Jericho Project
Providing housing solutions and supportive services to vulnerable New Yorkers since 1983
Jericho Project is working to end homelessness at its roots by enabling individuals experiencing homelessness to attain quality stable housing, employment and wellness services so they can reach their greatest potential. The 39-year old nonprofit serves over 2,000 individuals annually, including veterans, families and young adults. Jericho has been a key strategic partner and thought leader in New York City’s current robust initiative to end homelessness. In our great city, homeless shelters are required to take in all individuals that need a roof over their heads. But a night in a shelter is often very unsafe and just a temporary solution to a much deeper problem. In 2016, access to affordable housing in New York City is extremely limited and finding a stable job without an address or clean belongings is next to impossible! That is why Jericho Project’s innovate service model offers a holistic and sustainable solution to homelessness -and one that costs taxpayers one-third of what shelters cost! We provide supportive housing and comprehensive services to homeless and at-risk individuals so they can achieve long-term independence. Our expert program specialists, case managers and mental health professionals find clients private, clean, safe apartments and work with them to remain stably housed through employment services, mental and physical health care support, and legal counseling. 95% of our clients do not return to homelessness after joining us. Thanks to the support of generous partners in this work Jericho has grown enormously since our conception in 1983. From owning one supportive housing residence, we now own seven and are in the process of building an eighth. From serving just 40 homeless individuals, we are now reaching over 2,000 per year.

25 years later, we remember.
Today, we honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and hold in our hearts the families, first responders, survivors, and communities whose lives were forever changed.
As a New York City community, we remember the strength, compassion, and resilience that carried people through an unimaginable time.
We will always remember. We will always honor.

Our 5th Annual Back to School event was a wonderful celebration for the children and families in our Family Scattered Site program.
In addition to receiving brand-new backpacks filled with school supplies, children enjoyed face painting, balloon animals, karaoke, dancing, a lemonade stand, free books, and other back-to-school goodies.
We’re grateful to Supplies for Success for their generous support and partnership in making this event possible. A special thank you to Janinne and the Family Scattered Site team for coordinating the event, and to the NYPL The New York Public Library for stopping by with free books for our participants.
We’re proud to mark five years of this tradition and continue creating opportunities for children and families to start the school year feeling supported and ready.

There’s a lot growing at Jericho Project’s Logan Fountain residence.
Through our Horticultural Therapy Program, residents have cultivated an impressive garden filled with beefsteak tomatoes, ground cherries, eggplants, hot peppers, yellow cherry tomatoes, spinach, kale, cucumbers, okra, carrots, basil, radishes, green peppers, and sunflowers.
The garden is more than a source of fresh produce. It’s a space for residents to spend time outdoors, connect with one another, care for something from seed to harvest, and enjoy the results of their hard work.
We also want to recognize and thank Allandra-Marie Mc Eachrane, Clinical Therapist at Jericho’s Logan Fountain residence, for her dedication and hard work in developing and supporting the Horticultural Therapy Program. Her commitment has helped create a meaningful space for residents to connect, create, and thrive.
We’re proud of the residents, staff, and everyone who has helped make this garden a thriving part of the Logan Fountain community.

Three committees will help shape this important work:
Culture: Strengthening our internal community and workplace culture
Finance: Building a stronger and more diverse financial foundation
Growth: Expanding our ability to support individuals and families experiencing homelessness

For many veterans, the hardest battle begins after they return home.
Housing instability, barriers to employment, and limited access to mental health care can make the transition to civilian life incredibly difficult. In this new op-ed, Jericho Project CEO Tori Lyon shares why ending veteran homelessness requires more than housing alone. It requires coordinated, community-based support that helps veterans rebuild stability, dignity, and independence.
At Jericho, we know that when veterans have a safe place to call home and the right support systems in place, lasting change is possible.
Read Tori's latest article to learn why supportive housing is one of the most effective investments we can make for those who have served our country.

As we celebrate Independence Day and look ahead to America’s 250th birthday, we’re reminded that the promise of freedom is strongest when it is shared by everyone. True independence means expanding opportunity, advancing equality, and building communities where every person has the chance to thrive.
This milestone is a chance not only to reflect on how far we’ve come, but also to recommit to the ideals that continue to shape our future.
This Fourth of July, we’re grateful to everyone who helps turn those ideals into action. Thank you for your partnership, your commitment, and your belief in a brighter future for all.
Wishing you a safe, joyful, and meaningful Independence Day.
