GO Project
Helping New York City public school students thrive in the earliest stages of their education.
The GO Project (“GO”) helps New York City public school students thrive early in their education through year-round academic, social-emotional, and family support. Students behind grade level in literacy and/or math enroll in GO during K-2nd grades and participate in our high-quality, year-round programming through 8th grade. Each year, 700+ students receive over 200 hours of additional instruction over the summer and on Saturdays during the school year. With this early and sustained support, they are equipped with the skills and confidence to make significant academic gains, reach and exceed grade proficiency, graduate on time, and achieve long-term educational success.

GO Project is thrilled to announce Christine Anderson as the new Co-Chair of our Board of Directors! We are so grateful for the dedication and many years of service of Melanie Whelan, who previously served as Board Co-Chair and will remain on the Board and co-lead GO’s next strategic plan. Thank you, Melanie, for your commitment to GO’s mission and for helping us serve hundreds of students each year.
Working alongside Board Co-Chair Marlaine Olinick, Christine will guide our Board and Staff as we continue to serve NYC public school students in need of academic intervention.
A passionate advocate for education, Christine serves as Global Head of Corporate Affairs at Blackstone, overseeing Public Affairs, Marketing, and Sustainability functions. “I am excited for this next chapter of leadership and deeply grateful to outgoing Co-Chair Melanie Whelan for her partnership, guidance, and unwavering dedication to our work,” shared Gayle Villani, Executive Director of GO Project.

🎉 GO is so proud of our students for not only continuing to work hard at improving their academics but also for enrolling in strong middle and high schools! Part of GO’s programming includes supporting our 5th, 7th, and 8th grade students in the GO Bridges program. Students and their families receive support with school applications and finding best-fit schools for them. Students partake in workshops and activities throughout the year to prepare for the transition to middle and high school.
This year:
⭐ 76% of GO students enrolled in a strong middle school (compared to 57% citywide)
⭐ 93% of GO students enrolled in a strong high school (compared to 60% citywide)
Congratulations to our GO students and we can’t wait to see all that you achieve in middle and high school!
