Today, six survivors filed new civil complaints in France for r**e and human trafficking – some of which involved minors – against former modeling agency boss Gérald Marie, Le Parisien exclusively reports. Several of them are coming forward to the courts for the first time.
The filing comes one month after our board member Carré Otis filed her own complaint, marking a monumental step forward after the initial investigation into Marie was dismissed in 2023.
“Since I first spoke out in 2011, long before , so many women have contacted me,” said Otis. “We want to hold those responsible for this system accountable and bring them to justice.”

One year ago today, the took effect in New York, establishing rights and protections for models and bringing greater accountability to the fashion industry. Today also marks the deadline for model management companies doing business in New York to register under the law.
“We have ushered in a new standard for worker protections in fashion, but passing a law is just the beginning,” Ziff told Vogue Business. “The next step is implementation, making sure workers know their rights, companies understand their responsibilities, and, of course, that violations are addressed when they happen.”
If you believe your rights have been violated, or your agency is not registered, contact our free and discreet support line.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this week to celebrate the first anniversary of the , and to our board chair, Audrey Winn, for graciously hosting us.
This milestone belongs to so many people: the models who courageously shared their stories, the advocates and supporters who stood with us, and the board members, partners, and staff who helped turn years of organizing into meaningful change.
The FWA set a new standard for worker protections in fashion—but passing the law is just the beginning. Now we’re focused on making sure those protections are realized in practice and that fashion workers have a voice in shaping the future of the industry.
We’re grateful to Chris and Cory Kercher for matching donations to the Model Alliance up to $25,000 this month. If you’d like to help build on this momentum, visit the link in our bio to double your impact.

“A more innovative fashion industry requires more humanity, not less. More creativity, not less. More respect for workers, not less.”
Those words from Commissioner Sam Levine of the NYC Dept. of Consumer & Worker Protection set the tone for our Anniversary Celebration this week.
We were honored to welcome the Commissioner as our keynote speaker and grateful for his recognition of the Model Alliance as one of NYCDCWP’s key allies in advancing rights and protections for creative workers. His remarks were a powerful reminder that our voices are essential to protecting dignity, respect, and artistic expression in the age of AI.
