We believe in the Power of Art. Youth in our communities will be the next generation of lifelong learners, creative problem solvers, and collaborative leaders.

For 49 years LEAP has partnered with school communities to offer creative arts programs that encourage New York City youth to pursue their passions, develop their strengths, and amplify their voices. LEAP partners with school communities to offer creative arts programs that encourage New York City youth to pursue their passions, develop their strengths, and amplify their voices. We envision a city where education is equitable, and the arts are accessible for youth in communities that are rich in culture and capability and have been under-resourced.

This week's is from last year’s LEAP Con ‘25.
LEAP Con 2025 was our first ever 3-day employee-focused conference that included exciting news and updates for the upcoming school programming year.

This was also when our new Afterschool leadership was announced. Our Portfolio Managers, Oswaldo, Kevin, and Yaw, and our Senior Education Specialist, Taylor!

Now today with LEAP Con ‘26, it is now 5 days of LEAP's speakers and presenters, committed to developing the growth of our staff for the upcoming program year!

LEAP staff came together at the first ever SYEP/Intern Closing Ceremony event earlier this month to honor the impact of our Intern's work, and the importance of providing young people the opportunity to gain real-world working experience.

LEAP interns join us from partners like Pace University, America on Tech, and other SYEP partners. They join us at program sites for the summer or in our administrative office offering data, finance, and communications support. We're sad to see them go, but excited to see where they go. Thank you all!

Meet Nathan Brisby, LEAP’s Vice President of People & Culture!

Nathan’s career has always centered on a simple question: How do we create spaces where people can bring more of who they are to what they do?

Before building a career in People & Culture, Nathan was a professional actor -- an experience that shaped his belief in the power of creativity, storytelling, and human connection. Since then, he has led HR and People teams across multiple organizations, helping build cultures where people can grow, contribute, and do meaningful work together.

Nathan is also the co-founder of two non-profits: Broadway Gives Back (which brought together members of the Broadway community in support of charitable causes) and The Thread (an interspiritual learning community). He sits on the Board of several non-profits organizations. Across his career, he has remained deeply interested in the human side of work, including how purpose, belonging, spirituality, and meaning can inform the way organizations lead and care for their people.

At LEAP, Nathan brings together many threads of his life: the arts, people leadership, education, service, and a deep curiosity about what gives our work meaning, as he focuses on strengthening the employee experience and building the culture and people practices that allow LEAP’s community to thrive.

Nathan lives in Westchester County with his family, including his five-year-old son and three dogs. Joining LEAP feels a bit like coming full circle: bringing a career that began in the arts back into a community where creativity and human development are at the heart of the work.

Here is a snapshot of our interns visiting LEAP’s Summer programs at MS88 this past month!
Where students have multiple activities to choose from; in between mask making, sports, jewelry making and their culinary program: Food Wars with TA Mr. Patrick!

There was so much talent much fun to be had in each program offered at this site throughout the summer. The staff had such a great time visiting MS88 thanks to Program Directors Ada & Shana with their very own tie dye class with TA Ms. Bloo! ⭐️

Last month, LEAP's Young Artivists Ensemble and LEAP Artists LIVE! took the stage with All Stars Project, Inc. in Times Square for All Stars & Friends!

Our young people showcased a 20-minute devised musical theater performance inspired by the America250 Project, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Thank you to All Stars Project and Times Square for making this incredible opportunity possible for our young performers!
