There are 8 species of bears; Asiatic Black, brown, giant pandas, North American black, polar, sloth bears, spectacle bears and the small sun bears. Bears have nonretractable claws, short tails, and excellent sense of smell. They can live up to 25 years in the wild and 50 in captivity. In winter, bears have an effective survival solution to the lack of food; hibernation. The heart rate, body temperature, metabolism, and respiration are all lowered. Some bears can hibernate and live off a layer of fat over 100 days without eating, drinking, urinating, or defecating. Nature‘s organisms adapt to survive in amazing ways

Sharing a page from our book, “Night Life”, which highlights the characteristics of nocturnal animals.
Coyotes
Long-nosed coyotes with large bushy tails
Are quite vocal with sounds like yelps, howls, and wails.
Parents will huff at their wayward pups
To warn and guide them as they grow up.
These omnivores eat fruit, grasses, and meat
And are not very picky about what they eat.
They indulge in rodents, rabbits, and frogs
and may even eat pets such as small cats and dogs!
It is not wise to feed them or leave food out,
As these "American jackals" will return, no doubt.
People move near canyons and the countryside,
Leaving fewer places for them to reside.
Seen roaming the cities, both small and large

These flowers are called, “Sorbet Peonies”. There are over 3000 cultivated varities of peonies and they come in many stunning colors. The Sorbet Peony is a hearty plant with plentiful blooms annually. They are one of my favorite flowers so Oan painted it for me. 🥰

We produced this for a citrus grove owner in Florida. Enjoy.
Citrus Groves
There are several different kinds of citrus fruit;
Oranges are most popular, one cannot refute.
Florida grows juice oranges that do well in the heat,
While California, Arizona and Texas grow citrus food to eat.
Most citrus is actually grown in Brazil.
And they all employ workers with a hand picking skill.
Citrus fruits contain nutrients and vitamin C.
You get many health benefits from a citrus tree.
Great cooks that seek to zest up some meals,
Scrape in the rind of different citrus peels.
For those who don’t cook but in a tangy mood,
Simply sq**rt a little citrus on your food.
If you’re driving and craving some delicious fruit
Stop at a citrus grove when on route.

The aquatic lotus is a symbol of rebirth. It is not endangered as its seeds fall and quickly roots to the bottom of fresh water ponds and rivers. We wish you a fresh and exhilarating rebirth for 2019! 🎉🎉

December 12th is National Poinsettia Day;
The impressive leafy plant that people often display.
They were brought to the US by Dr. Poinsett,
Who suspected that Americans hadn’t seen them yet.
He was the first US diplomat to Mexico
And had traveled to a place where poinsettias grow.
Poinsettias love the warmth, the sunlight, some rain,
And when watering indoor plants, allow the water to drain.
The plants’ colored bracts are called modified leaves,
They are not the plants’ flowers, as some people perceive.
Their modest little flowers are not easy to see,
And they don’t lure pollinators like bugs, birds or bees.
Should you need a festive plant, there is nothing better,
Than to decorate your home with a colorful poinsettia.
