This morning, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Eta Zeta Lambda chapter partnered with the Young Professionals of Mount Vernon for a street cleanup! We canvassed the MV Streets and beautified the community. Over 15 bags were delivered to sanitation and the residents around South 11th Avenue were very appreciative! 🤙🏾

Brother Morgan wasn’t just an inventor; he was a problem solver who saw a need and filled it—often at great personal risk.

• The Three-Position Traffic Signal
Before Morgan, traffic lights were just “Stop” and “Go.” After witnessing a horrific street accident, he patented a three-position signal that introduced the “caution” phase—an innovation that saves lives every single day.

• The Gas Mask (Safety Hood)
In 1914, he invented a “safety hood” to help firefighters breathe in smoke-filled environments. He famously used it himself to rescue workers trapped in a tunnel explosion beneath Lake Erie.

On January 19, 2026, Eta Zeta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. celebrated Bro. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday at Bowlero White Plains. We bowled strikes, laughed, ate, danced and hung out with the Westchester community and their families. Brothers also collected coats, hats and other winter clothing items for those in need. Legacy and community go hand in hand. 06!
