On October 4, 2026, at approximately 10:46 p.m., New Rochelle Police officers responded to multiple calls reporting gunfire near 2 Harrison Street. Officers arrived within minutes and found an adult male lying in front of the deli at that location. He was conscious but bleeding from the back of his head.

Officers immediately focused on ensuring the man received medical attention. Emergency medical personnel arrived quickly, provided on-scene care, and transported him to a local hospital. He is currently listed in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries. His name is being withheld at this time.

While the victim was being treated and transported, officers secured the area, searched for evidence, and attempted to identify anyone who may have witnessed the incident. An anonymous individual reported seeing two men dressed in all black running toward Cedar Street shortly after the shooting.

The New Rochelle Police Department urges anyone who may have information to contact Detective Diaz of the General Investigations Unit at (914) 654-2270 or the police non-emergency line at (914) 654-2300. Community assistance is vital to supporting this ongoing investigation.

October 1st is the 45th anniversary of the line of duty death of New Rochelle Police Detective John C. Phillips. Detective Philips died from injuries he sustained in an on-duty auto accident.
Detective Phillip, an eighteen-year veteran of the Department, was 43 years old when he died. He was survived by his wife, Kathryn, and four sons, Raymond, Thomas, John, and Dale.

Today, we welcomed another new member to the New Rochelle Police Department.

PPO Julian Pina was officially sworn in and will begin the next chapter of his career with NRPD.

Officer Valencia completed the Yonkers Motorcycle School, a demanding motorcycle course which will prepare him with the skills required for the Traffic unit.
