This one made me emotional, and not because of the award (although it's fabulous), but because we can only hope to raise kind individuals in this life, and I felt so proud of who she really is because she absolutely cares about the success of everyone around her.
It was the words spoken in this speech that got me, and after a night of watching her receive award after award, this rounded out her high school experience with a bang!
Thank you to Carly Scholz for believing in our girl, and to all of the amazing instructors who made her love of music this full-I can't thank each of you enough!
Brecklynn, we can't wait to see you shine in all of your future musical adventures and endeavors!

Warning: This is a long post.
I want to thank everyone who showed up for me yesterday. It was pure joy to witness our students perform and see their progress on their musical and acting journey!
This event took everything out of me physically. Accompanying people and groups from 12:30-8 P.M. was a lot, and I wish I could've talked to every family and person who was in our audience or on our stage, but I appreciate all of you more than you know!
This business is more than a music school to me. I wanted to create a place that made students love music and acting. I wanted everyone to feel loved, supported, safe and heard. I wanted a place where teachers knew how valuable they are, and where they could make their schedule without any demands.
I am someone who always wants to do more, and I want to do better. I think once a person gets complacent, that's when they lose sight of what their original vision was. I welcome collaboration with other businesses. There is no competition. We all can coexist because it's not about winning. This is about making a difference. For me, this is what music and arts has meant to me.
Yesterday, my son had a blast. He was my tech guy, and I got to have him perform in my theatre group, percussion group, and 3 separate bands. He shined and amazed me both in his ability to be dependable, responsible, and grown up, but then watching him play-he is becoming such a good musician. He can recover from mistakes so quickly, and though he could drive me nutty in a practice, watching what he learned and how he applied it was beautiful. He is such a terrific human. He hugged me all day and told me that he really had a great time running tech and performing, and after some tough months of being 13, I saw him understand how this isn't just Mom being busy for "Work". This was purpose. This was community. He showed up for me in a way I have never seen before.
I get to watch my daughter solo on stage and teach others. I listen to her teaching. She is fun, patient, encouraging, and she does what I do when she gets home. She talks about them like they are her babies. She feels so much pride and responsibility for each one.
I get to play music and act with my kids. I am proud that I have been able to have these experiences with them. They may not realize it now but keeping them close was always the goal. Keeping them engaged in the arts never meant that they had to be musicians. It was an outlet. It made them smarter. It taught them how to work in groups. It gave them the power to use their voice and speak up. It showed them how to create, and it gave them discipline.
I make a lot of mistakes but yesterday made me feel proud and grateful on many levels. Thank you to everyone involved!

I posted on my other profile, but I am so proud of my girl- She signed to get a $1,000 grant and a guaranteed teaching job in Pasco County after college!
She loves her students at Rock Out Academy, and knowing that she is going to be a band director makes me beam!
The girl can tell you what key the fan motor is in! This kid did Macy’s, indoor percussion, jazz band, concert and marching band, drum major, interned all year at Bayonet Middle School, has been in 5 Rock Out Academy bands, our Crash Class, and our theatre program, all while in her senior year of high school and graduating a year early!
You can do anything in this life, and I can’t wait to be cheering you on every step of the way!!!
