Mitchell NJROTC color guard participated in the opening ceremony for Relay for Life. It's crucial to remember those who we lost in a battle with cancer, and honor those who survived.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: The Awards Banquet is this Thursday (04/19/18) at Spartan Manor, it starts @1830 sharp. There are no reserved sits, first come first served, so we recommend getting there earlier.

Mitchell Navy visited Sector St Petersburg and the St Petersburg Air Station. The selected cadets saw small military boats, boarded cutters, and toured the recreation center. Additionally, the cadets were able to view rescue helicopters and see the inside of a search and rescue c-130. A wonderful experience for the cadets to see a little bit of how the Coast Guard operates!

Mitchell Navy’s Physical Readiness Test, or PRT, is a way for the unit to see where their cadets stand with their physical fitness. This PRT consists of 60 seconds of curl-ups, a 3 second cadence for right angle push-ups, and a one-mile run at the cadets own pace. After the completion of the PRT, the cadet’s scores will reward them with a single ribbon or a bronze, silver, or gold lamp device to attach to their ribbon.

Mitchell Navy did exceptionally well at their first field meet of the year, Gaither, qualifying for the state championship competition in March. The unit took home trophies for 3rd place overall, drill, athletics, push-ups, personnel inspection, and color guard. A few of the cadets also earned individually placing medals in individual drill, push ups, and sit ups. Mitchell Navy’s hard work and dedication towards their routines and athleticism paid off in the end, upholding the reputation of a NJROTC unit that is a force to be reckoned with.
