SHOW SYNOPSIS Good evening, and welcome to HOPE In The Light Of Su***de.
I'm Tammy White, founder and CEO of the Bobby White Foundation, and tonight I want to talk about something that has been weighing on my heart.
Su***de does not discriminate.
It doesn't matter how old you are.
It doesn't care whether you're a man or a woman.
It doesn't matter what you do for a living, how much money you have, where you live, how many people know your name, or how successful your life may appear from the outside.
And recent deaths in the public eye have once again started conversations about mental health, addiction, emotional pain and su***de.
When someone famous dies, especially when we know that person struggled with mental health or addiction, people sometimes say things like:
"But they had everything."
And every time I hear that, I think about how much we still misunderstand about emotional pain.
Because what does "everything" really mean?
A beautiful home?
Money?
Success?
A spouse?
Children?
Friends?
A career?
Recognition?
None of those things gives us immunity from depression, trauma, addiction, grief, loneliness or hopelessness.
And I know that because of Bobby.

HOPE Moves Forward
SHOW SYNOPSIS Good evening, everyone, and welcome to HOPE In The Light Of Su***de.
What an incredible few weeks it has been.
Our 9th Annual Art for Hope is now behind us, and tonight I want to begin with one very important word—gratitude.
Thank you to our amazing volunteers who give their time, energy, and hearts to make this event possible. Thank you to our sponsors and raffle donors whose generosity helps us continue the work of the Bobby White Foundation. And thank you to everyone from our community who came out and supported an evening dedicated to mental wellness, su***de prevention, and supporting those who have lost someone to su***de.
Every person who walked through those doors mattered. Every conversation mattered. Every connection mattered.
I also want to give a very special thank you to our keynote speakers, Eloy Nunez and his son, Eddie Nunez, author of Tears of W**e. Thank you both for your willingness to stand before our community and share such a powerful and deeply personal story. It takes courage to be vulnerable, to speak openly about the difficult parts of life, and to allow your own experiences to become a source of hope and understanding for someone else.
That is exactly what Art for Hope is about—bringing what is often hidden into the light.
And a very special thank you to J David Wright for capturing the evening so beautifully and creating the wonderful photo reel. Looking through those photographs reminds me that Art for Hope isn't just an event—it is people coming together for a purpose.
And it's hard to believe, but next year we will celebrate our 10th Annual Art for Hope! Ten years. That is going to be a very special milestone.
But we're not slowing down!
Now we WALK!
Our attention turns to the Pasco Walk for HOPE 2026, Saturday, November 7th.
This is our next opportunity to bring our community together—to walk for those we have lost, to walk beside those who are struggling, to support mental wellness and su***de prevention, and to remind people that there is always HOPE.
So now is the time to start thinking about your team. Invite your family. Invite your friends, coworkers, neighbors, schools, organizations, and businesses. Create a team, join a team, or simply come out and walk with us.
Because this isn't just about how many people show up on November 14th. It's about what happens when a community chooses to show up for one another.
Art for Hope may be over for another year, but our work certainly isn't.
We celebrated together in September.
Now, on November 7th, we WALK together.
We remember.
We support.
We connect.
And together, we walk for HOPE.

September, Su***de Awareness Month
SHOW SYNOPSIS Welcome to HOPE In The Light Of Su***de.
I'm Tammy White, and I'm so glad you're here with me tonight.
There are certain times of the year when everything seems to come together—the memories, the emotions, the work, and the purpose behind why we continue.
And this is one of those times.
We are in the final days of preparation for Art for Hope, coming up September 10th. There are details to finish, artwork to prepare, sponsors and volunteers to thank, and a thousand little things that have to come together before we open those doors.
But as busy as these final days can be, I keep reminding myself of why we do this.
Because September is Su***de Prevention and Awareness Month.
It is a time to bring su***de out of the shadows. To talk about mental health. To recognize the warning signs. To remind someone who may be struggling that they are not alone—and that asking for help is an act of courage, not weakness.
And on September 8th, we recognize 988 Day—a day dedicated to raising awareness of the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline and making sure people know that help is available when they need someone to listen.
Sometimes hope doesn't look like a grand gesture.
Sometimes hope is a phone call.
Sometimes it's sitting beside someone and saying, "I'm here."
Sometimes it's asking, "How are you really doing?" and being willing to stay for the answer.
And sometimes hope is simply helping someone make it through one more difficult moment.
That is what Art for Hope represents to me.
It isn't just an art event. It is a gathering of people who believe that something good can grow from something incredibly painful.
For me, this journey began with losing Bobby. And while I can never change the circumstances of his death, I can choose what I do with the love that remains.
So, as we put the finishing touches on Art for Hope, I want to invite you to be part of something bigger than an event.
Be part of the conversation.
Be willing to check in.
Be willing to listen.
Be willing to learn.
And most importantly, be willing to bring a little more HOPE into the light.
Because someone you know may be struggling silently.
And your willingness to reach out could matter more than you'll ever know.
So tonight, let's talk about hope, connection, awareness—and the small things each of us can do to make a difference.

Milestones and Gratitude
SHOW SYNOPSIS Good evening, and welcome to another Saturday night of HOPE In The Light Of Su***de.
This week feels a little different for me because I'm coming to you after another milestone... another anniversary... another moment on this journey of life that I once imagined I would be sharing with Bobby.
And yet, here I am.
There are moments when anniversaries can make us look backward—at what we've lost, what we wish had been different, and the people who should still be sitting beside us.
But tonight, I want to look forward, too.
I want to begin this show with gratitude.
Gratitude for the friends who have stayed. For family who has loved me through all the different versions of grief. For the people who came into my life because of this journey—and for the new experiences, new friendships, new opportunities, and new reasons to keep showing up.
I'm learning that moving forward doesn't mean leaving someone behind.
Bobby will always be part of my story. He is part of the woman I have become, the work I continue to do, and the love that continues to find its way into my life.
But I am also discovering that there is still more life to live.
There are new memories to make. There are people I haven't met yet. There are places I haven't seen, conversations I haven't had, laughter I haven't shared—and yes, there are still difficult days.
Grief has changed me, but it has not taken away my capacity to love, to hope, to experience joy, or to be grateful.
So tonight, as I mark another milestone without Bobby, I'm choosing to honor both sides of this journey—the love and the loss, the memories and the new experiences, the tears and the gratitude.
And maybe that's what healing really looks like.
Not forgetting.
Not moving on.
But moving forward... carrying the love with us.
So, thank you for being here. Thank you for walking beside me, for listening, for sharing this space, and for reminding me that even in the darkest places, there can still be light.
This is HOPE In The Light Of Su***de.
And tonight, we're going to talk about what it means to keep living, keep loving, and keep finding reasons to be grateful.

Gratitude, Love & the Journey
SHOW SYNOPSIS Good evening, and welcome to HOPE In The Light Of Su***de.
Tonight's show is a little more personal for me because we are getting very close to Art for Hope, and I want to take a moment to say something that sometimes gets lost in all the planning, phone calls, emails, artwork, sponsors, and volunteers.
Thank you.
Thank you to every sponsor who has chosen to believe in this mission. Thank you to every volunteer who gives your time, your energy, and your heart to help make Art for Hope possible. And thank you to everyone who has supported me along this journey.
Because this Sunday, August 23rd, I will celebrate my 65th birthday.
And it is also a day that carries another meaning for me. August 23rd would have been Bobby's and my 34th wedding anniversary.
So, as you can imagine, birthdays and anniversaries have a way of bringing a lot of emotions with them.
There is gratitude. There is love. There is sadness. There are memories. And there is also a deep sense of purpose.
More than ten years ago, my life changed forever when Bobby died by su***de. I could never have imagined the journey that would follow. I certainly never imagined that one day I would be standing here, talking about su***de loss, grief, mental wellness, hope, and healing.
But somewhere along the way, I realized that I didn't have to walk this journey alone.
And because people reached out to me, listened to me, supported me, and helped me find my way through some very dark days, I want to do the same for someone else.
That is really what this work is about.
Letting people know they are not alone.
Letting someone who has lost a loved one to su***de know that there are others who understand the complicated grief that follows.
And reminding those who are struggling that their story isn't over.
I am incredibly grateful for every person we have been able to help—and for every person who has allowed us to walk beside them, even for just a little while.
As Art for Hope gets closer, I find myself thinking less about the event itself and more about what it represents.
It represents people coming together.
It represents hope.
It represents compassion.
And it represents what can happen when we decide that no one should have to navigate this journey alone.
So tonight, before we talk about anything else, I simply want to say thank you.
Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for believing in this mission. Thank you for believing that even after su***de loss, there can still be purpose, connection, healing—and hope.
And Bobby, wherever you are, I hope you know that I am still carrying our love forward.
So let's begin tonight's conversation.

You are not alone. There is hope. And sometimes, hope begins simply by knowing that someone is willing to walk beside you.

Hope In The Light of Su***de EP 222

Good evening, and welcome to HOPE In The Light of Su***de. I'm Tammy White, and I'm grateful you're here.
Thank you to the Rotary Club of Brooksville for inviting me to share our Looking Inward mental wellness program as Chair of Mental Health Initiatives for Rotary District 6950. What meant the most wasn't the presentation, but the conversations afterward—Rotarians openly discussing mental health, sharing experiences, and truly listening. That's how stigma is broken and community is built. I'm deeply grateful for that space.
I'll next share Looking Inward with my home club, the Rotary Club of Nature Coast, on August 19th. One conversation at a time, we're making a difference. 💜
Last week, we explored the idea from The Art and Science of Getting Happier that work can be love made visible.
Tonight, I want to go deeper.
Work isn't just a job. It's how we care for family, serve others, create, listen, and show up in the world. Brooks asks not, "What do I do?" but "Who am I becoming?"
After profound loss, that question can be painful. Grief changes us. It can make us feel like we've lost not only someone we love, but also parts of ourselves.
I know that feeling.
After Bobby died by su***de, I lost more than my partner—I lost my sense of self. My passion for custom framing faded, and my confidence disappeared. For a long time, I didn't know who I was anymore.
But healing taught me this: we may not return to who we were before loss, but we can become someone who carries love forward in a new way.
Today, I find meaning again in preserving memories through framing, and in the Bobby White Foundation, helping others find hope after su***de loss.
Neither path removes my grief.
Both are expressions of love.
That is what "love made visible" means to me.
Tonight we'll explore how purpose can grow from pain, how gratitude coexists with sorrow, and how compassion often comes from our own suffering.
Most importantly, purpose doesn't have to be big to matter.
Love is made visible in small acts:
A kind word.
A listening ear.
A helping hand.
A note.
A hug.
Simply showing up.
As we begin, consider this:
How can I make love visible this week?
Because each small act not only helps others heal—
It helps us heal too.
