Thinning peaches at the Nashua High North Titan Garden- Nashua School District.

Each Spring, make sure to thin the fruit from your trees, especially peaches. Though a bittersweet task, thinning fruit allows trees to focus more of their energy on the remaining fruit, ensuring a better harvest & less broken limbs!

Tree Grant Recipient Highlight- Genmo Food Forest in Keene, NH! The Gemmo Forest is a 12.5-acre permaculture laboratory in Keene, New Hampshire, growing plants, trees, and shrubs for not only their medicinal benefits but also for the vitality and well-being of all who interact with it. Through intentional experimentation, they model accessible practices that invite everyone to engage in new and meaningful ways with this land we all share.

The ReGen Roots Food Forest Project Tree Grant supported the planting of 14 apple & pear trees along the public entry into the Gemmo Forest to welcome their guests and provide a model for sustainable orchards!

The UMass Lowell Food Forest, planted in 2024, is a community centered space rooted at the intersection of food security, research, and well-being. The food forest is open to all and offers free food for community members to harvest. The site supports hands-on learning, research, and well-being programming, creating a vibrant space for people and the planet to thrive together. Come visit us at 46 Wilder St. on UMass Lowell’s South Campus!

As part of the Regenerative Roots Association Food Forest Project, we support the planting of community orchards & food forests around New England! One of the ten organizations that received support from our annual Tree Grant in 2025 was the Maine Coast Heritage Trust, which expanded their beautiful community orchard at Kelley Farm Preserve, Bernard, Mt. Desert Island Maine, this spring by planting some new apple trees!

It's seedling season! This year, we are distributing 3,000 tomato & pepper seedlings with collaborative partners as part of the Regenerative Roots Association Plant Share to help people grow healthy food & learn about the importance of food security! Thanks to Dartmouth Health, the Club National, and the YMCA of Greater Nashua for helping us distribute seedlings to hundreds of people, estimated to grow 10,000-20,000 pounds of food in 2026!

Planted some trees at the Abenaki Garden in Quechee, Vermont over the weekend as part of the ReGen Roots Food Forest Project! We also learned about Abenaki culture from garden mentor Earl Hatley...This garden was one of the ten that we supported throughout New England this year as part of our annual Food Forest grant, planting fruit trees, nut trees, and berry bushes at high impact schools, parks, & farms in the region!
