A good story can open up a thoughtful conversation. 📚💙
Principal VanDeventer has been visiting classrooms across our elementary grades, sharing books about kindness and empathy. These visits give students a chance to connect with her and talk about the ways they can care for one another each day, and better understand the topics of our recognition and award assemblies, which are focused on character, and awarded to students each month.
✨🎟️🎢 Fast Lane tickets, powered by third-grade engineers!
Last week in Engineering and Technology, Mrs. Novak’s class used LEGO SPIKE and a color sensor to build and code an amusement park ticket booth. As they changed their code, students explored how different inputs affect what a computing system does next.
They also showed what strong teamwork looks like: sharing the work, solving problems, and sticking with a challenge until their ideas worked. Way to go, NorthStars! ✨

✨🎶 Don’t play the “poison” pattern!
Recently, in seventh-grade music, Mrs. Petrick challenged students to echo her rhythms while listening closely for one pattern they had to leave out. Then the class split into teams, rolling balls into color-coded hoops to collect the notes for a rhythm they had to perform together.
There was plenty of friendly competition, but the real challenge was keeping a steady beat as a group. Our seventh graders were reading, feeling, and making music together! ✨

✨🫧 🌋Sometimes feelings bubble up…and sometimes they overflow!
Our second graders have been learning about emotions, and PE, Health & Wellness teacher and NorthStar Coach Williams gave them a memorable way to see what they’ve been discussing. Her science demonstration brought a big idea to life: emotions can build, and it helps to notice what’s happening inside us. ✨
