We’re designing a restaurant with the calm intensity of a music listening room—low light, tuned atmosphere, and a space that rewards slowing down. Not about music… but about that same kind of focus and immersion, translated into food + drink + conversation.

A simple idea: a hotel room placed gently in the forest.

All the essentials, surrounded by changing light, color, and forest atmosphere as the seasons shift.

The newest move at Hunt Hollow House makes the whole building feel like it’s breathing with the hillside.

A darker exterior settles it deeper into the forest, while a crisp ribbon of glass lets the rooms stretch outward—to the trees, the steep ravines, the ski slopes tucked in the valley around it.

From inside, it’s almost a soak-in-the-landscape moment: warm interior, the earth, long views. A quiet frame for a dramatic site.

At , the raw brass base continues the material logic set by the light fixtures and door pulls—tying each element back to the gilded ceiling above. Running beneath cabinetry and across a concealed frameless door, this continuous brass line quietly connects the space, grounding the shimmer of the ceiling with a subtle material rhythm.

Fawn & Fox Salon: From Warehouse to Ethereal Salon

What began as a metal-clad shell near the historic H. H. Richardson Complex has become a luminous refuge of light, intimacy, and care.
Through adaptive reuse, the design transforms an unremarkable warehouse into a civic-like interior—anchoring a quiet residential street with a sense of renewal.

Curved walls, arched openings, and a central oculus create a sequence of flowing spaces that capture light as material. Each surface, each shadow, and each reflection were considered to make the everyday ritual of a haircut feel sacred and personal.

This project celebrates collaboration: a design process shaped by the owner’s vision, the craftspeople’s ingenuity, and the muralist’s artistry.

The Skylight at Fawn & Fox

What began as a simple daylighting solution became the heart of the salon. Cut through the warehouse roof, this 8-foot oculus pours natural light deep into the space—both practical and poetic.

Designing and constructing it meant threading structure, weatherproofing, and craft into one detail. Months of development with builders and roofers brought it to life, and the result is a room that feels alive with shifting light.

“…Fawn and Fox salon is breathtaking. The space envelops you with curved lines and natural light and the feeling of softness. There is contrast with the natural wood above but it only enhances the softness the rest of the space supports. It feels like being in a Georgia O’Keefe painting. The natural light coming in brings in light and buoyancy found in nature complemented by the curved walls. It’s stunning. They took the space and made something magical with more space.

The skylight isn’t just a window overhead—it’s the quiet power that defines Fawn & Fox, lifting the everyday into something luminous.

What was once a fenced-off warehouse is now a salon full of light. Together with , we transformed a metal-clad shell into rooms of curves, daylight, and garden views.

This project was made possible by vision and trust — from the salon’s founder and her industrious husband-craftsman, and to the array of contractors.

Inside, an 8’ wide oculus skylight recalls the Pantheon, natural light is treated as material, and even the restroom is a joyful surprise (hand painted by ). Adaptive reuse here isn’t preservation — it’s reinvention, a reminder of what Buffalo’s neighborhoods can hold.

We finally got to see the occupied atydio we designed for Montague Projects —and it did not disappoint. The transformation is striking. What was once a dim attic with holes in the floor is now a light-filled, thoughtfully occupied space that reflects Julian’s vision and energy.

We also had another mission: finding art for our new mid-century-inspired dental office. With the help of Art Resource, we discovered pieces that feel like a perfect fit. Julian’s work resonates deeply—playful, intelligent, and full of color.

Grateful to collaborate with creatives and those who support them. It’s a full-circle kind of moment, and we’re here for it.

Breaking ground (with gusto) in the Adirondacks.

Our first project in the region is already full of grit, neighborly generosity, and a few surprise underground challenges.

This client—frustrated after years of trying to find the right contractor—picked up the excavator themselves and started digging. What followed? A tangle of unmarked water lines, dynamite-blasted boulders, 11 dump truck runs, and more than a few late-night YouTube tutorials.

It’s humbling to join someone this committed. We’re proud to be part of transforming this labor of love into a meaningful addition—and our first in the Adirondacks.

Here’s to rugged beginnings.
