Today we proudly celebrate the symbol of our nation—the American flag. Since June 14, 1777, the Stars and Stripes have represented the ideals of freedom, unity, and opportunity that make our country great.

As we honor Old Glory, let us remember the generations of Americans who have served and sacrificed to protect the freedoms it represents.

Property Appraiser Vickie A. Downs here. As promised, my office is committed to keeping you informed about issues that may impact property owners in Collier County. Attached is a simple overview of the proposed Property Tax Amendment (HJR 1F) that Florida voters will consider on the November 3, 2026 ballot.

A few important things to know:
✅This is a proposal only and is not currently law.
✅Voters must approve the amendment by 60% for it to pass.
✅If approved, changes would not take effect until January 1, 2027.
✅The first tax bills reflecting any changes would be issued in November 2027.

It’s always inspiring to meet young leaders who are passionate about their community and eager to learn more about local government. These future leaders represent the very best of Collier County, and we look forward to seeing the impact they will make in the years ahead.

🇺🇸 Remembering D-Day 🇺🇸

Today, we honor the brave Allied forces who stormed the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944, changing the course of history and helping secure freedom for future generations.

On this anniversary of D-Day, we remember the courage, sacrifice, and selflessness of the men and women who served during World War II. Their extraordinary bravery in the face of overwhelming odds remains an inspiration to us all.

Let us never forget those who fought, those who gave their lives, and those who returned home carrying the legacy of that historic day.

☕️ Great Discussion at Men’s Coffee!

Property Appraiser Vickie A. Downs and Director of Homestead & Customer Service Annabel were honored to speak at the Pelican Bay Men’s Coffee gathering.

Vickie shared the fascinating evolution of the Collier County Property Appraiser’s Office and highlighted the technological advancements that have transformed the way we serve residents—improvements made with thoughtful planning and fiscal responsibility.

Annabel provided an inside look at the duties and responsibilities of the Property Appraiser’s Office, explaining the many services we provide and the complexities involved in serving a growing county.

The presentation concluded with a lively Q&A session and great discussion from attendees.
