You signed a franchise agreement, not a silence agreement.
Most franchise marketing underperforms at the local level because national strategies ignore zip-code-level search behavior. Your customers aren't searching nationally. They're searching from a parking lot three miles away.
If your current marketing partner can't speak to that, you're allowed to push back. Here's the script.
>> Ask for the data. "Show me last month's local search impressions, click-through rate, and conversion data for my specific market." If they can't pull it, they aren't measuring it.
>> Demand local customization. "What percentage of my budget is going to geo-targeted campaigns versus national brand spend?" Generic creative built for a national audience will not convert in your trade area.
>> Question generic reporting. "How does my market's performance compare to franchise locations in similar-sized metros?" Benchmarks without context are just numbers on a slide.
>> Hold the line on content. "Where is the market-specific content for my location?" Local landing pages, neighborhood-level SEO, and community-relevant social posts are not extras. They are the strategy.
>> Say the hard thing. "This isn't working, and I need a plan to fix it within 60 days." You are the operator. You see the foot traffic, the phone calls, the revenue. Your data is valid.
Corporate brand guidelines protect the system. Local specificity grows your store. Both can be true, and you are allowed to demand both.
Your market deserves a strategy built for it, not inherited from it.

Most SEO campaigns plateau at month four.
Ours don't. And after years of diagnosing why other agencies' work stalls out, we noticed the same pattern every time: one layer of the stack was doing all the work while the other two sat idle.
