Naples Pathways Coalition
Our goal is to increase the number of people who safely bike and walk as an alternate form of transportation and for recreation.
We advocate for bicyclists and pedestrians, educate road users through engaging programs and events, actively drive change and combat distracted driving, while empowering community advocacy for safer, more bikeable, and walkable neighborhoods. Naples Pathways Coalition is a non-profit advocacy group dedicated to improving the safety of pedestrians and cyclists, working for the protection of and eq

The 2026 Florida Greenways & Trails Summit is headed to the beautiful Hilton St. Petersburg Bayfront on November 9-10, 2026.
This year's Summit is especially exciting as we celebrate:
🎉 The 25th Anniversary of the Florida Greenways & Trails Foundation
🏆 St. Petersburg's designation as Florida's newest Trail Town
🚴 Direct access to the iconic Pinellas Trail
🤝 Two days of networking, education, and collaboration with trail advocates, planners, engineers, elected officials, and active transportation leaders from across the state
We're also proud to share that Naples Pathways Coalition Executive Director Michelle Avola, who serves on the Florida Greenways & Trails Foundation Board of Directors, will be moderating a timely panel discussion on E-Bikes, ATVs, and Golf Carts on Trails—one of the most important conversations shaping the future of Florida's trail network.
Whether you're passionate about trails, biking, walking, public health, tourism, transportation, or community development, this is Florida's premier event for active transportation and trail professionals.
📅 Registration opens soon, but now is the time to start planning to attend.

🚲💙 What an incredible day at the NABOR Family Fun Day this past weekend!
Thanks to the support of our volunteers, partners, and community members, Naples Pathways Coalition helped fit and distribute 500 bicycle helmets to local children. 🪖
Every helmet represents more than just safety gear — it represents a child who can ride with greater confidence, a family that understands the importance of bike safety, and a community investing in its future.
We're grateful to everyone who stopped by, got fitted, asked questions, and helped make this event such a success.
Together, we're building a safer, healthier, and more bike-friendly Naples — one helmet at a time.
📸 Check out some of our favorite moments from the day!

🚲 Happy World Bicycle Day!
A bicycle is more than just a bike.
It's transportation.
It's recreation.
It's independence.
It's freedom.
Today we celebrate the power of bicycles to connect people, strengthen communities, and improve quality of life.
But World Bicycle Day is also a reminder that everyone deserves safe places to ride.
Naples Pathways Coalition will continue advocating for safer streets, connected pathways, better bike infrastructure, and policies that protect cyclists and pedestrians throughout Collier County.
Because a truly great community is one where everyone can safely get where they need to go.
🚲 See you on the trails, pathways, and roads.
🚲 Ever wonder why a cyclist is riding in the travel lane instead of the bike lane?
We came across this video from another creator and thought it did an excellent job illustrating a reality that many people don't see from behind the wheel.
Bike lanes aren't always clear or safe. Cyclists are often forced to leave them because of:🗑️ Garbage and recycling bins🕳️ Potholes🌿 Debris and vegetation🚗 Parked vehicles🚧 Construction and other obstacles
When a cyclist moves into the lane, it's usually not to inconvenience drivers—it's to avoid a hazard and stay safe.
The next time you see a cyclist taking the lane, remember there may be a reason you can't immediately see.
As the video reminds us: "We don't take the lane to slow you down. We take it to stay alive."
🚲 As National Bike Month comes to a close, the work to create safer streets continues every single day.
Last week, despite the rain, our community showed up for the National Ride of Silence to honor cyclists who have been injured or killed on our roads and to raise awareness for safer conditions for everyone who bikes and walks. 🕊️
The statistics in Florida are sobering:
⚠️ Thousands of bicycle crashes happen every year
⚠️ Hundreds of cyclists lose their lives on our roadways
⚠️ Distracted driving continues to be one of the biggest threats to vulnerable road users
But events like this remind us that there is a strong community committed to making change happen.
Naples Pathways Coalition will continue to advocate for safer streets, fight against distracted driving, and work toward more bike- and pedestrian-friendly communities throughout Collier County.
Thank you to everyone who rode with us. 🌴
🚲 Ride together. Ride visible. Ride safe.
Our NPC cycling kits carry an important reminder for every driver on the road:
➡️ Share the Road
➡️ 3 Feet — It’s the Law
Group rides are a great way to build community, stay active, and enjoy Naples on two wheels — but safety always comes first.
Drivers: please slow down, stay alert, and give cyclists at least 3 feet when passing.
Cyclists: ride predictably, communicate with your group, and stay visible out on the open roads.
We all play a role in creating safer streets. 🌴

Do drivers hate bicyclists? US sees an alarming rash of crashes. A rash of crashes shows a dangerous rivalry won't let up. Why are drivers and bicyclists seemingly always at odds?

🚨 Volunteers Still Needed! 🚨
Naples Pathways is still looking for volunteers to help us fit 500 bicycle helmets for kids at NABOR’s Family Fun Day on Saturday, June 6! 🚲⛑️
We need about 15 volunteers to help with:
• Helmet fittings
• Sizing assistance
• Signature collection
🕘 Volunteer shift: 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM
📍 Indoors at NABOR Family Fun Day | 1455 Pine Ridge Rd.
No experience needed — we’ll train you! It’s simple, fun, and incredibly rewarding to see the excitement on kids’ faces when they receive their own helmet.
🍴 Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
