Saturday was the final day in a week-long heat wave that affected the Chicagoland region. Both high temperatures and peak heat index values made it well into the 90’s across the area! 🔥

The SPC has issued a severe t’storm watch for the entire Chicagoland region, valid until 1AM CT.

A severe t’storm is possible across tge Chicagoland region from later this afternoon through tonight! ⛈️
A round of showers and t’storms will sweep through along a cold front, posing an isolated to scattered severe t’storm threat. Damaging winds and hail will be the threats with this activity, though an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

A severe t’storm is possible across portions of the Chicagoland region from later Saturday afternoon through early Saturday night! ⛈️
A round of showers and t’storms will sweep through along a cold front, posing an isolated to widely scattered severe t’storm threat. Damaging winds and hail will be the threats with this activity.

One final day of hot temperatures in the current heat wave can be expected across much of the Chicagoland region on Saturday! Elevated heat index values are also expected. The exception may be near the Illinois/Wisconsin border, where outflow and increased clouds may keep conditions slightly cooler. 🔥
Isolated showers and t’storms are possible across the northern half of the area Saturday morning and midday. Of bigger focus will be a line of showers and t’storm, with severe t’storm potential, that will sweep across the area from later Saturday afternoon into early Saturday night.

The heat made a resurgence across the Chicagoland region today, with high temperatures well into the 90’s and heat index values in the 90’s as well across much of the area! 🔥

Hot temperatures into the 90’s are expected once again on Friday across portions of the Chicagoland region, as the heat wave continues! Elevated heat index values are also expected. A resurgence in the heat is expected across the area compared to Thursday. The exception will near areas near Lake Michigan, where cooler conditions are expected. 🔥
Isolated showers and t’storms are likely from Friday morning through Friday night across northern portions of the area. A non-zero severe t’storm threat will be exist with this activity.

It has continued to be hot across the Chicagoland region over the past few days, with high temperatures well into the 90’s and heat index values flirting with 100°! It should be noted that portions of the area were able to escape the heat today. 🔥

Record high minimum temperature tied!
Rockford had a low temperature of 74° yesterday (June 18th), which tied the record high minimum temperature for date of 74°, originally set in 1905. 🔥

Chicago/O’Hare had a low temperature of 78° yesterday (June 18th), which broke the previous record high minimum temperature for date of 77°, originally set in 1921. 🔥
