We're excited to welcome Jared Deck Music, making the trip from Oklahoma to share an evening of heartfelt songs, rich storytelling, and a blend of roots, folk, and Red Dirt music. Whether you're a fan of singer-songwriters or just enjoy great live music, we know you won't want to miss this!

Today we're celebrating the birthday of our taproom manager, Mike Snook!

If you've stepped foot inside Contrary over the last 7½ years, chances are Mike has poured you a beer, cracked a joke at your expense, given you a little playful grief, and somehow still made you feel right at home. His snark, compassion, work ethic, and genuine care for this place and the people in it have helped shape Contrary into what it is today. Quite simply, Contrary wouldn't be the same without him.

Unfortunately, Mike has also been getting absolutely dry-hopped by life this past week. As one of the many residents affected by the downtown evacuations, he's been packing, moving, and dealing with more stress and uncertainty than anyone should have to handle.

Yet somehow, on his birthday, while moving his entire life, he's still showing up tonight to pour beers for all of us.

That's Mike. He loves Contrary. And today we'd love to show him just how much that love is returned.

So stop in tonight, wish Mike a happy birthday, buy him a beer, and help us celebrate one of the best people we know.

In the wake of this week’s heartbreaking tragedy in our community, we have all been searching for ways to support one another.

A friend of Contrary Brewing from California, Mario Smith, reached out and asked if he could buy a round for our guests tonight. It wasn’t about the beer—it was simply his way of extending kindness from across the country and letting Muscatine know that people are thinking about us.

We share this gesture with gratitude and humility, knowing that no act can ease the pain being felt by those directly affected. Our hearts remain with the families, friends, and loved ones who are grieving.

In difficult times, communities come together. Whether it’s sharing a conversation, offering a listening ear, checking on a neighbor, or simply being present for one another, every act of compassion matters.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support and care for one another. Muscatine is in our thoughts.

Out of respect for our community and in light of the recent events here in Muscatine, we've decided to postpone General Knowledge Trivia scheduled for tomorrow night.

General Knowledge Trivia will now take place on Wednesday, June 17th. As a result, our planned 90's Pop Rocks Name That Tune Trivia will be moved to a future date.

Muscatine is a small town, and moments like these remind us how connected we all are. Our thoughts are with everyone affected.
