Happy ! Today we have an exclusive Pride Month Feature Friday - Willow Arts .in.transition. Willow helped us bring some Pride items (now available!) to life with great images and designs for the Pride Pre-Order Store. She a Team JL Ambassador, and rows at Ann Arbor Rowing Club and also founded Allies with Oars. Read more about Willow's story:
"My name is Willow Arts. I am a trans woman, rower, athlete, activist, and neurodiverse human
living with ADHD, autism, and a non-verbal learning disability. Rowing saved my life during a difficult time, it gave me something to hold onto β€” and it has meant everything to me ever since. I started rowing with Ann Arbor Huron High School in 2008 and went on to row at Northern Michigan University, where we had a small, un-coached, and very unorganized club. I would return to Ann Arbor each summer to row with the Ann Arbor Rowing Club, and after graduating in 2016 I moved back and made it my permanent home on the water.
Rowing kept me going long enough to find the courage to come out, transition, and live as my
true, authentic self. I have always been fortunate to be part of a club that has had my back
unconditionally. When I came out to AARC in 2018, everyone supported me from day one β€” no
questions asked. No matter how I identified my club has always had a β€œseat in the boat” for me. I
cannot thank my club enough for everything they have given me over the years.
No matter how you identify, your s*x, gender, race, disability, or body type β€œthere is a seat in the
boat for everyone”. During pride month I like to celebrate inclusivity, everyone should feel free
to Identify however they want and have a β€œseat in the boat” no matter what color of the rainbow
you Identify with.
One of my proudest accomplishments has been founding Allies with Oars. The organization is
now led by Rachel Freedman and Tara Morgan, and they have taken it to places I never dreamed possible. We are making a real impact throughout the rowing community.
As Pride Month approaches, being a trans woman and identifying as a le***an, this time of year
means the world to me. Pride month is a time to celebrate who you are and be proud of it."

Happy ! Today we have an exclusive Pride Month special Feature Friday - Logan Fink . Logan helped us bring some Pride items (now available!) to life with great images. He is a Team JL Ambassador, and rows at Kitsap Rowing Association and also races for Allies with Oars. Read more about Logan's story here:
"Technically, I started my rowing journey at Washington State as a walk-on; however, before I could even get on the water, classes and work got in the way and I had to stop. Fast forward about 15 years, I discovered a learn to row class with a local rowing club, Kitsap Rowing Association and began hopping into their open row sessions to get more time in the boat. After a few months, I accidentally showed up to a race practice and the coach said, "Well, you're here, so I guess get in the boat." I haven't been able to get enough of it since then. Over the last few years, I have competed with KRA in both sprints and heads, bringing home quite a bit of hardware in the process. I have also become one of the club coaches, and most recently club President, leveraging my professional and personal experiences to help shape our small and scrappy club into something much more, with a big focus on inclusivity and making rowing accessible to all. I am also in my third year racing for Allies with Oars, a gender-inclusion focused LGBTQIA+ team that competes in regattas across the US. During my time with Allies, I competed in a 66km coastal relay at Salt Spring Island in BC, Canada, local beach sprints in a 1x, 2x and 4+, in an 8+ at Head of the Charles for the last two years, and most recently in an Open Gender Masters 4x at San Diego Crew Classic, where we finished in first place with almost 30 seconds of open water. As a gay athlete, I am immensely proud of how far I have come, and the network of q***r rowers and allies I can lean on as colleagues, teammates and friends. Current state of the world is a bit scary, but if I can use my voice and privilege to help make the rowing world just a little more safe for other q***r athletes, then it is all worth it."
