Deep Roots Farm is a small farm in the city. Moscow, Idaho Deep Roots Farm is owned and operated by Greg Freistadt and Marci Miller.
We have been growing on the Palouse since 2009 using methods that promote biodiversity on our farm. Never synthetic, always natural. Our farming philosophy: We seek to regenerate the soil that enables our growing while respecting its natural processes. We do not use Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). We support the propagation of heirloom varieties whenever we can. We are a member of Slow Food

It’s such a blast having Roots & Wings - Outdoor Education on the Palouse kids helping and observing the happenings of the farm as it speeds up to full production. The kids have their own plants started, too, for their garden space. They are excited to check the greenhouses regularly for what’s popping up and what’s ready to plant. Come see us in front of NIAC this Saturday for the 1st of the season.

We're hosting Roots & Wings - Outdoor Education on the Palouse summer camp this summer. If you have a kiddo ages 4-7, send them to dig in the dirt for a week in July.

Our friends at Cano Farms in Valleyford, WA, are showcased in this new episode of Washington Grown. If you drive from the Rockford cutoff towards Spokane's South Hill, take the Old Palouse Highway and find them on Madison Rd. Their farm store is open for limited hours, but it's worth making the effort to get there!

Farmstand is back open for this warm weather period. Eggs, navel oranges, and the usual veg are stocked. We have the last of the Musque de Provence winter squash which I’m loving right now! Just put toasted nuts, butter and maple syrup if you feel it needs it. Or bake first and then finish slices on the grill to pair with steak. Awesome sweetness and deep rich flavor!

Yay to increasing light and Citrus! We are welcoming the new year in with some excellent Satsumas and Navel oranges picked just a few days ago in Northern California. A friend visits family and brings back these gems every year. We are so grateful there was enough to put some in the farmstand. We are open for the week with fresh green onions, beets, kale, onions, garlic and winter squash. Come grab some and taste the sun!

High summer veggies are stocked! Didn’t snap a pic, but a rainbow of heirloom tomatoes are stocked in the stand as well. Daylight hours, dead end of Henley Street, Moscow.
