The Legacy 9-1-1 Cost Reimbursement Program is ending. AT&T has agreed to stop billing legacy charges in Alabama. You should no longer have legacy charges on your bill after the September billing cycle. If you do, contact our office. The reimbursement program will run through December 31, 2026. If you have other carriers still billing for legacy charges, reach out to our office. The PST certification reimbursement program is ongoing. On this the final day of National Su***de Prevention Month, we'd like to remind Emergency Dispatchers across the country that the public is counting on you to know what to do on a call with someone who is actively suicidal.

According to the survey of more than 1,500 Americans, 73% believe that dispatchers receive specialized training to manage su***de risk calls. However, only a fraction of the tens of thousands of Emergency Dispatchers in the United States have received such specialized training.

Please join us in welcoming Leslie Benton, who has been appointed as the newest member of the Alabama 911 Board.

Leslie is the Public Sector Account Manager at Southern Linc and brings more than 30 years of wireless industry experience with her. She works with state and local government agencies across Alabama to find the right communications solutions for their needs, and she's no stranger to the 911 community. Leslie previously served on the Alabama Wireless 911 Board and is a member of NENA and APCO International.

Outside of work, Leslie has spent the last 28 years organizing golf tournaments that raise money for the Alabama Sheriffs' Youth Ranches. She's an Auburn grad and loves spending time on Lake Martin boating with family and friends.

Leslie will join us for her first Board meeting in November, and we can't wait to officially welcome her to the table. Welcome, Leslie!

Please join us in welcoming Cassie Scherrer to the Alabama 911 Board! 🎉

Today, Cassie officially joins our team as a Regional Field Manager, a new position created to help support the Board’s expanded responsibilities under Alabama Act 2026-371. In this role, Cassie will work directly with 911 districts and emergency communication districts across the state, providing support, resources, and guidance as we implement the new requirements and continue strengthening 911 service throughout Alabama.

We are excited to have Cassie on board and look forward to the experience and perspective she brings to this new role.

I’ve spent almost 10 years in 911 at Tuscaloosa County Emergency Communications, starting as a call taker and supervisor before moving into quality assurance and training.
