MAX1 has officially arrived at Maxwell AFB! TD-0 is now complete, marking a strong and successful start to their time at Field Training.

This month, hundreds of Air Force ROTC cadets across the nation will graduate and commision as Second Lieutenants in the Air or Space Force.

It is a TOUGH road. Like the saying goes, if it were easy, everyone would do it. Congratulations LTs! 🥳

Troy University Air Force ROTC cadets recently teamed up with the Candy Bomber foundation ( https://www.thecandybomber.org/ ) to creatively deliver candy to students on campus.

Cadet Sydney Shouse is a senior at the 290th Detachment at the University of Kentucky. This weekend, she be taking over the our social media and sharing what it is like to be in Louisville during Kentucky Derby season!

The Kentucky Derby is a world-famous horse race. It is preceded by the Kentucky Derby Festival, a two-week celebration filled with events that bring together both locals and visitors.

The royal court represents the Festival, the Fillies, Inc., and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Growing up in Louisville, Derby season has always been a highlight for her, and some of her favorite memories come from events like Thunder Over Louisville, which first sparked her interest in aviation.

"AFROTC has played a huge role in being selected for this opportunity, shaping my leadership, discipline, and commitment to serve.” Says Shouse. “I am incredibly grateful for the chance to represent both the Kentucky Derby Royal Court and AFROTC, and to do it alongside four fantastic women who are driven and dedicated to serving others."

From Oklahoma to Italy ✈️

“I had a big fear of failure initially, and the Air Force ROTC program at OSU taught me that the worst that can happen when you try new things is that you fail and learn from it,” Johnson said.

“Don’t be afraid to put your name in the hat. Don’t be afraid to try new things, because you can only grow from them.”
