Foster or forever home wanted 😊

Jeremiah needs a home, of either type. He’s approx 13 weeks, well socialized, and super smart! Good with kids, dogs, and adult cats. Crate and leashed trained. UTD on vaccines and preventatives and will be neutered before adoption.

Ideally, Jeremiah needs a home with a yard and another dog that can teach him all the tips and tricks, especially how to go potty outside all the time.

Do you have a pup that needs a temp friend? Jeremiah is your guy! Please apply at www.rrarsquad.org.

Their adoption includes UTD vaccines, vetting; and preventatives, and spay/neuter.

In the words of Pike Road Mobile Veterinary Services, ā€œI’m trying to make sense of it as I say it because it doesn’t make senseā€. Or something like that.

Mary Margaret’s bloodwork came back surprisingly…unremarkable šŸ¤” the results are not perfect, but they’re not horrible either. Somehow, someway, in between capture/ultrasound day and bloodwork day her body turned several corners.

We’re not sure what to call it. An anomaly? A miracle? Whatever it is, it definitely came as a shock to us. While MM’s prognosis is very still guarded, and we’re not sure where things will go from here, she has shown us that love goes a long way. And don’t worry, she’s still getting all the fun and all the snacks yall donated to her, just with more moderation than we anticipated.

Now is probably a good time to tell you that Mary Margaret is named after the late grandmother of one of our team/board members. The team member who is writing this post. My grandma. In so many ways she is similar to her namesake: stubborn when she wants to be (trapping was a nightmare), full of s***k (crates don’t stand a chance), kind, attentive, and soulful, with eyes that don’t just look at you, but into you.

I’m not sure if her namesake had a part in all of this, but it sure feels like it. A sprinkle of love and luck from the other side maybe? Whatever it is, we are grateful. Because after SIX years of living on her own and what we thought would be a few weeks in a hospice home, Mary Margaret suddenly has a little more life left to live.

Chip and Steve, Steve and Chip, which is which, well here’s the sitch: they both need forever homes šŸ šŸ˜Š (hint: Chip’s eye spot is just a bit bigger than Steve and has a spot of brown in it).

As a reminder, these puppies came to us after we got word they were being given away at a local Walmart. Initially a litter of 14 shepherd/bulldog mixes, the first few came to us incredibly malnourished, dehydrated and all were loaded with hook and roundworms and coccidia, which ultimately took the life of one of the puppies šŸ˜”

After trying several different treatment meds, we’re grateful to say they are all very healthy. We also paid to spay their mom, so no more puppies from her!

They’re 12 weeks old now, well socialized, fun, sweet, and smart! They are all working on potty and crate training and are doing a great job! Four boys, two girls, all some combination of black, white, and brindle. We anticipate they will be large sized adult dogs.

RRAR takes San Juan! We were grateful to spend the morning with Save A Gato, cleaning and feeding at their location near Casa Rosa. This small team is dedicated to TNR and rescuing efforts for SJ’s cat overpopulation. Looking to volunteer when you’re in PR? Email or message them on FB!

Baby Binx is ready for forever šŸ’™

This 3-month-old charmer came into the world needing a little extra love, and boy, did he soak it all up! Binx arrived at River Region Animal Rescue as a tiny 1-day-old baby and was bottle-raised with all the warmth and devotion a kitten could ask for. Trust us, he has not forgotten it.

From the moment you walk into the room, Binx will make sure you know he's there, and more importantly, that you're there. This boy is a lover through and through. He may occasionally engage in a friendly tussle with the resident dog, but when it's all said and done, Binx would much rather be curled up in your lap than anywhere else in the world.

Bonus points? He's a seasoned road tripper! Binx loves cruising in the car alongside his best canine companion, so if you've got errands to run, he just might want to tag along.
With a meow as sweet as honey and a personality even sweeter, Binx isn't just looking for a home, he's looking for his person. Could that be you? Apply for Binx at www.rrarsquad.org/apply

Rescue never stops. Luckily, Sriracha was loud enough at a local Chick-fil-A to be heard far and wide just before the storms moved in.

The B boys šŸ’™šŸ§” are ADOPTED šŸŽ‰ Bentley and Berkeley, the bonded senior Shih Tzus brothers, were saved from convenience euthanasia. They were vetted, neutered, Bentley had dental surgery and then, last week, they got groomed and went to their forever home 🄹

A huge thank you to their incredible foster who loved them like her own and their adopter, who says they are settling in great. We are only able to save pets like Benny and Berk because of the incredible people who give their time, love, and support: fosters, adopters, and donors. We are so grateful for the opportunity to continue our mission of saving pets in the River Region.

For those of you who donated to their April Showers May Flowers campaign: THANK YOU. We owe you a shirt/tote raffle and the final raindrops as soon as the MM dust settles šŸ’•

It’s supposed to storm this week, but for the first time in over half a decade, Mary Margaret won’t be outside braving the elements šŸ’•ā›ˆļø

Our old gal had an appointment with Pike Road Mobile Veterinary Services yesterday. In just three days, she’s lost 18 POUNDS of fluid from her abdomen and lungs 🤯

One thing’s for certain: even with a fully failing heart and an enlarged liver, Mary Margaret has a will to live.

We went ahead and ordered a full work up so we can make an informed decision about what’s next. While today is a huge win for MM, we are also realistic about her condition. We are hoping that the results will give us an indication that we have just a *little* more time to makeup for the SIX years she spent on her own. Any extra day is a blessing!

In the meantime, we are refeeding appropriately, spending a lot of time in her favorite place (outside), enjoying every tail wag, and helping her understand that even when she’s alone, she’s safe.

Thanks again to a very sweet donor, Mary Margaret enjoyed a chicken nugget snack during her vet appointment šŸ—. We don’t want to put words in Dr. Nelson’s mouth but we’re sure we heard her say something like ā€œthis is the sweetest dog I’ve ever met, I love her so much, everybody should have a Mary Margaret in their lifeā€. Her words, not ours šŸ˜‰
