Launching Citizens of Character into the Nation
During the annual award ceremony for the of Falcon HS Space Force JROTC, five members of the graduating Class of 2026 participated in a ceremony to take the oath of enlistment into nation's military services. While military service is not a requirement for participating and graduating from the enterprise, some students do see it as an attractive career path to fulfill the call of service to their community instilled by the curriculum.
The entire Space Force JROTC enterprise is proud of these graduates as they launch into the nation as "citizens of character with a space-vision."

(Towberman Award) Amplifying the Guardian Spirit and a Former CMSSF
In May 2024, the Space Force JROTC unit at the Arlington Career Center (VA-821) pioneered a new award program that “amplified the Guardian Spirit” as mandated by Chief of Space Operations General B. Chance Saltzman in his L.O.E. 2. Former Chief Master Sgt. of the Space Force Roger Towberman presented the first “Guardian Spirit Award” to then Cadet Major Antony Rios who was graduating in the Class of 2024. He was selected by his instructor team for demonstrating outstanding “Commitment to Mastery.”
This May, units are taking up the program to honor Cadet Guardians who are exemplars of one or more of the Guardian Values of character, connection, commitment, and courage.
On May 12th graduated cadet Rios returned to present the Guardian Spirit Award, now named for retired CMSSF Towberman, to a graduating senior at his SFJROTC unit.
The Guardian Spirit Award (a.k.a. The CMSSF Roger Towberman Award) is the JROTC program’s version of the U.S. Space Force’ Polaris Awards. These awards showcase and amplify the Guardian Values to the members and the public.
