💍 During WWII, soldiers gifted alexandrite (often synthetic) to their wives and sweethearts before heading to the front. Its color-changing magic symbolized hope and grief, life and death.
Tragically, many never returned. The stone became known as the “widow’s stone,” linked to mourning and bittersweet wartime love in Russia. Legend even claimed it would turn permanently red after the giver’s death.
A gem born of dualities — joy and sorrow, light and shadow — alexandrite’s poignant legacy endures. Rare, beautiful, and deeply human. ✨

✨ The Legendary Birth of Alexandrite ✨
In 1830, rich deposits of alexandrite were discovered in Russia’s Ural Mountains. These first stones were exceptional — vivid, intense, and famous for their dramatic color-changing magic.
Named after the young Tsarevich Alexander II, the gem instantly captured hearts because its striking red and green hues perfectly matched the imperial Russian military colors. A gem born from nature and national pride.
Today, that same rare beauty lives on in our alexandrite rings at Dylan Rings.
Would you wear a stone with such royal history? 💍❤️💚

The birthstone for June is Alexandrite. It is a stone that changes color from green to red. Typically it is green in sun light, and red in candlelight. It is a stone of duality we will discuss more about during the next couple of weeks. Alexandrite is a symbol of summer, of Fridays, and the ninth day of lunar month, and it is on this day that it is particularly good to present or purchase alexandrite.

✨ Custom Andalusite Ring with Hidden Halo ✨
Handcrafted by Josh the Jeweler at Dylan Rings Custom jewelry studio— this one-of-a-kind piece features a stunning Andalusite center stone that showcases incredible pleochroism. Depending on the angle and light, it shifts beautifully between rich earthy greens, golden yellows, and deep reddish-brown tones.
That’s why Andalusite is often called the “poor man’s Alexandrite” — it delivers that magical color-changing effect without the ultra-rare price tag!
The hidden diamond halo adds the perfect touch of sparkle, catching light from every direction. A true conversation starter and one of the most unique gems out there.
