πΉ Written for a 16-year-old pop star β rejected β and then became the first Beatles song ever covered by another artist.Misery was originally written for Helen Shapiro β the most popular pop singer in Britain at the time β while The Beatles were her support act on tour in early 1963. Her management turned it down. So Lennon and McCartney offered it to fellow tour performer Kenny Lynch β who released it as a single, making him the very first artist in history to record a Lennon-McCartney original. Lynch later turned up on the Band on the Run album cover. That's one heck of a footnote. π The Beatles - Misery πΆ β€οΈ Listen now in the ππ¬π ππ¨π¦π¦ππ§π! ππ
