We will never forget the shocking events that rattled our Nation on 9/11/2001. We will remember the sacrifices of all the victims, their families, the first responders, and all the Armed Forces that were affected by this tragedy. 🇺🇸

Today is 9/8 Day which was created to raise awareness about the resource 988 and promote mental health support during a time of crisis.

When a veteran or family member calls 988 and presses 1, Operation: Rally Point is one of these resources that responds to the veteran’s crisis.

💜 International Overdose Awareness Day — Remembering Our Veterans

Today, we remember the Veterans we have lost to overdose and honor those who continue to fight for recovery.

Behind every uniform is a person—a person who has served, sacrificed, endured, and carried experiences that others may never fully understand. Sometimes the battles continue long after the uniform comes off.

On International Overdose Awareness Day, we choose compassion over judgment, connection over isolation, and hope over stigma. A substance-use struggle does not erase a Veteran’s courage, worth, or dignity.

To every Veteran who is struggling:
You are not a burden. You are not your past. You are not your struggle. And it is not too late to ask for help.

Recovery is possible. Healing is possible. Your life is worth fighting for.

Let us remember those we have lost, support the families carrying their grief, and stand beside the Veterans who are still here—reminding them that they don’t have to face the next battle alone. There are treatment and recovery resources available to Veterans, along with overdose-prevention tools such as naloxone.

Last night, Operation: Rally Point attended the Centennial High School Military Appreciation night. It was an honor to join several of our community partners in taking the field and meeting the players of both high schools. We salute Centennial High School for not only supporting local veterans, but also in their efforts of teaching their young students the importance of patriotism. 🇺🇸

In less than an hour, every chair will be filled with a veteran. This safe space is provided for these veterans to process their experiences through evidence-based treatment modalities and psychoeducation. However, the most effective and powerful component to these groups is witnessing their interactions with each other. These veterans are truly building a community among themselves.

Earlier this week, our Clinical Program Director, Nikki Allemani, was a guest speaker at the Catholic War Veterans of Atlanta meeting. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with this great organization to increase awareness and provide psychoeducation about Moral Injury.

Moral Injury is often overshadowed by PTSD and/or Survivor’s Guilt. However, it has a unique struggle which takes a different approach to heal. Moral Injury is an invisible wound to one’s moral compass and value system instead of the primitive fear response of the nervous system.

Our CEO and other team members attended the monthly VetBuds Greater Atlanta meeting this morning. Brandon Watts presented our current housing and treatment statistics as well as information regarding our upcoming Golf Tournament Fundraising event. He further shared his personal experiences with overcoming Moral Injury and the importance of discussing this unseen and unspoken wound.

By far, this monthly meeting is one of our favorite groups. VetBuds provides a plethora of resources for our veteran community and fellowship for us community partners.
