Monroe Votes

A little bit of Monroe County, deeply red, and our neighbors to the south, Lucas County, just blue, was with Biden in Delaware last night. Our next President will work for all Americans and especially the proud union workers who built those Jeeps down in Toledo.

It won't be a policy of racial division or failed trade wars. It will he a policy of economic opportunity for all and America as a beacon of engineering, scientific, and manufacturing excellence.

Whatever side you are on, let's give the next administration a chance and look toward a brighter future.

If your ballot was rejected (usually because of signature issues), you should have been contacted by the local Clerk. New laws in Michigan allow you 48 hours to correct ("cure") your ballot.

NOTICE: ELECTION CHALLENGERS

Conservative groups across the country and especially in Michigan have been hard at work stocking polling places with people called Election Challengers. You likely won't need to worry about these people. They will either not be at your polling place or they will simply follow the rules but you should be prepared regardless.

An Election Challenger is a little more than just a Poll Watcher. They are there as independent parties to ensure that poll workers only allow eligible individuals to vote. It's an important function.

To do it, they need to go through some training and register. That training is to ensure they know the RULES.

GOLDEN RULE: they are there to critique the poll workers, not the voter. They cannot talk or question you and they absolutely cannot harass you.

Other Rules: they cannot wear anything supporting a candidate, they cannot take photos or video, and they MUST WEAR A MASK.

Always Remember: you have a right to vote. Even if your registration is called into question, insist of filling out a provisional ballot. It will be counted.

If things go wrong: if a Election Challenger or anyone except the poll worker tries to talk to you or violates the rules above or if anyone, including the poll worker, harasses or tries to intimidate you, notify the police officer at the polling location and ask for the Precinct Chairperson. They have the power to expel people from the polling location.
