I’m always so thankful when I get to work with alternative couples… Now that, of course there’s anything wrong with traditional weddings, but you always get a little twist on things that makes shooting and working with them so much different.

Keeping your wedding quirky is what I think makes it stand out… Since we’ve had cameras, we’ve had wedding photos. I love those that make their stand up just a little bit different.

I love that when we think about weddings, we always think of super bright and cheerful and commercial. I like those that do wedding with Little edge… Maybe some darkness, but definitely with some personality.

Trisha and Kyle’s wedding was an example of my dream booking. Both challenged creatives from Northern California, they wanted to do a retro inspired wedding but keep it family oriented and really about their circle and friendships. Between the amazing suit that Kyle wore and the beautiful vintage dress that Trisha had, including some amazing shots in their custom ‘53 Ford, these have to be some of my favorite images.

There’s something special I find about wedding photography, especially when it’s black-and-white. Sometimes you want the image to have a lot of energy and excitement… But something about black-and-white just calms you down and let you focus a little bit more on the image and what it means.
