Make Studio Modesto
Downtown Location Permanently Closed
10/21/2025
Whew. It’s been a while since we last chatted. I did finish that shirt for Alex 😜
Life has thrown me a few curveballs since I closed that sweet little pink door. Still not sure what I’m to learn from all of it, but I can honestly say I’m a completely different person today than I was 4 months ago.
What I do know is this: closing the studio, while difficult, was the absolute best decision. I have no regrets. I also know that being home right now has been so good for my heart, and I know Alex loves it too. My health has not quite been the same since we lost our little Raylan, and being able to be home when I need to be has done multitudes for my well being.
I do, however, miss creating, I miss creating with community, and I miss having a “job” of my own.
I’m still trying to figure out how I can incorporate those things I love, and miss into my new slow life. I always feel particularly creative and entrepreneurial when the -ber months are here 😜
Hope you’re all well 💕

I know it’s not Christmas, or July but I had to share this super cool creation I found (and left for someone else!!) at Priceless Treasures on McHenry today!
It’s a plain gift bag with scraps of fabric glued or Modpodged on. Then, they took a thin line of gold glitter puffy paint to outline it. How cute?! And so many different designs you could do!
I’m itching to make craft kits again…I think this would be a fun one!

My first official home project!
I’m recovering from a D&C post miscarriage but I was chomping at the bit to start creating again!
I’ll be attempting to sew a button down shirt for my husband. Anyone recognize the fabric? It’s a top sheet to a bed set (whose bottom sheet is since well loved and long gone) from Target’s Opalhouse spring ‘22 collection designed with !
My husband and I LOVE these sheets but the top sheet always lasts longer, and they’re so comfy he told me he wished he could wear them! Also, the bright pattern is 😍😍😍
I’ll keep you posted - hope it fits lol

Can’t believe it’s almost been a month 💕
Life at home took two unexpected turns since I closed the studio - pregnancy followed by miscarriage. I shared with some of you my news in the final days of the studio, but learned this week that the embryo did not grow, and cannot even be seen on the ultrasound. However, my body still thinks it’s pregnant.
While this is sad and SUCH a bummer, we have been through MUCH worse and consider the fact that it happened earlier a blessing.
I had grand plans of crafting and sharing after leaving the studio but the last month has left me exhausted, quite frankly. Hoping I’ll get some energy back soon and craft until we get some good news again ❤️
Missing all your beautiful faces of course, but happy to be riding out the storm at home.
Oh, and a couple of my zinnias are in bloom!

We’re slowly clearing out!!! Actually it’s been pretty quick! This was taken about a week ago, and it even looks different now.
Can’t wait to share with you all what will be occupying the space after me 😍😉

I know the studio closing was maybe a shocker and disappointing to some, but if I may be a tiny bit selfish….
I am so looking forward to being in my home space ❤️🏠(my house literally looks like the emoji). I’ve loved this place for 10 years, and I can’t wait to get reacquainted with her 😌 I can’t tell you how happy my heart is right now, and how at peace I feel. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to follow my heart.
Some of you have asked how I’ll be spending my time. Since my brain can’t sit still for 30 seconds, I have already:
-dreamed up new business ideas (at least 3)
-sent a submission video for a crafty marketing gig
-joked about getting a part time job
-decided how I would start up the studio again (I haven’t even closed it yet????)
-collected new recipes
-began a weight loss competition 🫠
-queued up Hallmark’s Christmas in July 🎄
So in answer to that question - I don’t know yet. I have to be careful not to take too much on because it’s something I’m working on.
I DO plan to share the raw, unfiltered, creative endeavors I plan to take on. And I hope you continue to share with me too!
What should we craft next? ✨💖

LAST Stitching Social at 318 Needham
This Saturday | 6-9pm!!
Notice how I said “at 318 Needham”?? I’m hoping to continue this Social in a different location when the pink door closes for the last time!
But for this month, hope to see you at the studio ☺️

Hello dear friends and followers. I have a bittersweet announcement to make.
I have chosen not to renew my lease at 318 Needham St.
The juicy (ok not really juicy) details are on the front page of my website, but the short version is I am actually SO excited for a new chapter in my life, and a second “retirement” haha!
As much as I fought with this decision for a while, only recently, have I become overwhelmingly at peace with it, and that’s how I knew it was the right decision.
This is NOT the end of Make Studio however. I love this place but I have other things I need to focus on. I will keep my Instagram open, and I hope to continue connecting creatively with all of you, and maybe even have more time to craft, myself! I’m planning to see where the ebbs and flows of life take me, and I hope that the spirit of the studio lives on, however that looks. I still don’t actually know.
Scheduled workshops will go on as NORMAL! I will be here through the end of June, and I’ll have more logistical details as the month progresses, in addition to some items/fixtures for sale because ya’ll know there’s NO room in my 1920’s craftsman bungalow for all this stuff….
Finally, thank you to ALL of you who have supported me through one of the greatest adventures of my life! We will keep in touch :)
Stay crafty,
Lana

We got some new beading kits in from .stacks and they’re just SO cute!!
These make a great open studio craft or a pick up and take home. Each kit will make a few bracelets, and then the containers they come in are perfectly reusable for whatever cuteness your crafty mind can come up with 😍🌈
