Hickman Road Over Tuolumne River Bridge Replacement
Project Update
Construction crews began work on Hickman Road over Tuolumne River Bridge Project in June 2020. The $18 million 750-foot long, 75-foot tall, 5 span bridge replacement project has primarily involved building the bridge foundations and substructure. The bridge is supported on 100-foot deep piles with diameters ranging between 8 and 10 feet. All of the bridge abutments and columns have been completed.
Falsework and superstructure construction is currently underway, which consists of a 48-foot wide by 7-foot deep 3-cell, post-tensioned concrete box girder. Construction on the new bridge will continue into the winter.
Environmental Status
The project is being carefully constructed under a variety of environmental State and federal permits aimed at protecting fish, wildlife, plants, and water quality. A team of biologists, including fish, bat, bird, and water quality specialists are monitoring the project to help maintain compliance with all environmental requirements for a clean and safe project.
Project Funding
Funding for this project includes the Highway Bridge Program (HBP), Local Seismic Safety Retrofit Program (LSSRP), and local fees.
