Gold Rush Adventure Racing

Really nice paddle on the Stanislaus River today. Lovely section of river, dense vegetation on the banks, tall trees, egrets and a few fish.

Team Fin-Win with me, Druce Finlay, and Jonathan Winder. Gold Rush Adventure Racing, 24 Hour Challenge August 27/28, 2024.

The race for us looked like: about 60 or so miles; run, kayak, trek, kayak, mounting bike, kayak, trek, kayak, swim, trek. It was all navigation by map and compass.

22 or 23 teams started, 13 finished, we finished 8th. One of the top teams in the world, Team Vitaraid from Spain finished 5th. It was a fairly tough course.

Our strategy, based on the course and our abilities was probably sound. We performed to our expectations until the last leg where finally the fatigue showed and our ability to navigate suffered badly.

Next time we'll be stronger and smarter.
