The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department proudly recognizes Firefighter Reeves Davis, Jr. as the July 2026 Firefighter of the Month!

Since joining the MFRD, FF Davis has consistently demonstrated a high level of professionalism and commitment to the career of firefighter. Initially starting in public safety as a dispatcher, Davis experienced a
ride-along that ignited his passion for the profession, prompting him to pursue life as a first responder even further.

Throughout his probationary period, FF Davis has proactively enrolled in various Alabama Fire College courses to expand his knowledge and skills. He readily
volunteers for any tasks that arise, whether on the fire ground or at the station, showcasing a strong work ethic and dedication.

Davis’ enthusiasm for all aspects as a Firefighter-EMT has inspired both his peers and senior personnel to strive for excellence.

Congratulations, Firefighter Davis.

Congratulations to the MFRD Ladies Combat Challenge Team on a successful weekend, competing in the Southeast Regional Firefighter Challenge Classic in the Firefighter Championship League.

Captain Jennifer Nelson and Firemedic Amber Dean represented MFRD and Alabama in the Women’s Tandem and Women’s Individuals.

The ladies crushed their runs and currently hold the Alabama state record for Women’s Tandem.

Captain Nelson dominated, placing first overall for women in her age division and setting the Alabama record.

These ladies have trained hard all year to prepare, and we could bot be more proud of the hard work, teamwork, and dedication they continue to show while representing Mobile. True inspirations!

The American Red Cross Battle of the Badges Blood Drive will be held on Wednesday, September 9th at the American Red Cross on Sage Avenue.

Join the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department and the Mobile Police Department for a friendly competition to see who can donate the most blood between 7:30am and 1:30pm!

Another scorcher on our hands, Mobile! 🥵

Preparation and safe practices remain the same:
💦 Hydrate often
☀️ Avoid prolonged exposure to the heat
🏠 Stay indoors in air-conditioned environments as much as possible
🌳 If outdoors, remain in shaded areas, or take frequent breaks in shaded regions
🚗 NEVER leave children or pets in hot vehicles for any period of time. STOP. LOOK. LOCK.

Same message, different day. A Heat Advisory is in effect for the area for Heat Indices rising into the 108-111 range, with a few localities closer to the coast seeing higher values.

As the Extreme Heat Warning continues across our area, it's important to take care of yourself and others. Never leave children, the elderly, or pets unattended in a parked vehicle, even for a short time.

Also drink plenty of water, even if you don't feel thirsty. Confusion, fainting, weakness, or loss of consciousness can all be signs of a life-threatening heat emergency.

Heat-related illnesses can happen quickly! It's important today, and throughout this week, to stay hydrated and to limit your exposure outdoors.

Wear lightweight clothing, drink plenty of water, and if you, or someone you know, appears confused or unconscious, seek emergency medical help immediately.

☀️🐾 Extreme heat can be dangerous for our pets. A little extra preparation can help keep your four-legged family members safe and comfortable this summer.

💧 Keep fresh, cool water available at all times.
🌳 Provide plenty of shade and a cool place to rest.
🐕 Walk dogs during the cooler parts of the day, and check pavement before heading out—it can burn sensitive paw pads.
🚗 Never leave a pet alone in a parked car, even for a short time. Temperatures can become dangerously hot very quickly.
🐱 Keep cats out of direct sun during the hottest part of the day and watch for signs of overheating.
⚠️ Watch for excessive panting, weakness or lethargy, stumbling, vomiting, drooling, or unusually red gums or tongue. Heat stroke is an emergency—contact a veterinarian immediately if you see concerning symptoms.

Remember: if it’s too hot for you, it may be too hot for your pet. ❤️🐾
