The office handles titles, tags, licenses, sales and use taxes & conservation permits. 5 offices in Mobile: Michael Square, Theodore, Eight Mile, Courthouse Annex, and Citronelle. License Commissioner Nick Matranga's goal is to serve the people of Mobile County with integrity, efficiency and accuracy. He states, “we want to make the experience as fast and pleasant as possible.”

Effective May 1 through June 30, 2026, the State of Alabama has suspended the state sales and use tax on food items.

Professional hockey returns to Mobile after a 22-year absence. The city was previously home to the Mobile Mysticks of the ECHL, competing from 1995 through 2002. The team, part of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) expansion team, is scheduled to begin play in October 2027 at the new Mobile Arena, competing in 29 season games. The team will provide an economic boost to the city with the name being revealed this month.

Did you know? There are tag renewal kiosks located at all eleven municipal city halls in the county (Bayou La Batre, Chickasaw, Citronelle, Creola, Dauphin Island, Mobile, Saraland, Satsuma, Semmes, Prichard, and Mt. Vernon) including the Mobile County Personnel Board located at 1809 Government St.
