Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce your Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials announcer for the week, Larry Coleman!
To say Larry is qualified for the job is an understatement. He is definitely no stranger to setting records at Bonneville.
Larry, a three-time U.S. National Sidecar Road Racing Champion, turned his focus to land speed racing at the Bonneville Salt Flats in the late 1980s. After retiring from road racing, he began building and piloting streamlined sidecar outfits specifically designed for Bonneville’s long, flat courses.
While he may have hung up his racing leathers, his heart is in sidecars and still out on the salt. Larry is at the Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials this week handling announcer duty and cheering on all those taking on the great white dyno. And you just never know, he might just be making a special appearance this week so stay tuned…

In November 1965, Carroll Shelby's legendary Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe (specifically the prototype chassis CSX2287 developed by Pete Brock, Ken Miles and Phil Re*****on) traveled to the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah and shattered 23 national and international land speed records.
While Carroll Shelby orchestrated the effort as the team owner, the car was primarily piloted during these historic speed runs by famous land-speed racer Craig Breedlove and co-driver Bobby Tatroe.
