🚨 We have reached maximum capacity for this program. We appreciate everyone who has reached out.
At the Mitchell Police Department, protecting our community means protecting our most vulnerable residents.
That’s why we proudly offer the Project Lifesaver Program, a FREE service designed for individuals who may wander due to Alzheimer’s, dementia, autism, or other cognitive conditions.
Participants wear a small transmitter bracelet that emits a unique tracking signal. If a loved one goes missing, specially trained Mitchell Police officers can quickly respond using specialized tracking equipment to help bring them home safely.
Every second matters in these situations, and Project Lifesaver helps give families peace of mind when it matters most.
To learn more or register for the program, contact the Mitchell Police Department at (605) 995-8400.

It happens to everyone. This morning one of our staff received this image in a text message. Clearly knowing it was a scam, it went straight to the deleted folder.
These messages often impersonate banks, delivery services, or government agencies and try to create urgency.
What to watch for:
• Unexpected texts asking for personal or financial information
• Suspicious or misspelled links
• Messages demanding immediate action or payment
• Frequent grammatical errors throughout
• Notice there’s no name attached
What to do:
• Don’t click links or respond
• Never share personal or financial information
• Verify directly using a trusted phone number
• Report as spam and delete
If you think you’ve been targeted or scammed, contact your local law enforcement agency.
