Missoula In Motion (MIM), founded in 1997, is a program of the Transportation Division ( housed in the City of Missoula's Public Works Department). MIM encourages the many sustainable transportation options available to individuals and workplaces through fiscally responsible strategies and best practice programs. MISSION:

TERMS OF USE
The City of Missoula’s page has been created to provide community members and visitors timely information about matters of public interest within the City. The page is not to be used for conducting business with the City of Missoula or for submitting public comment. Sidewalk Safety Reminders
As autumn arrives, be sure that leaves are the only things falling!
Fallen leaves can hide tripping hazards on sidewalks, driveways, and curbs. When wet, they can also become slippery for people walking, biking, and rolling. As you head out on your fall commute, slow down and give yourself a little extra time to travel safely, and maybe even enjoy those fleeting fall colors along the way.

Help keep Missoula moving safely by clearing leaves and debris from the sidewalks in front of your home.
And as leaf collection season approaches, please remember to keep bike lanes clear so everyone can get where they’re going safely.

We are exactly 2 weeks away from One Less Car Day!
Everyone is invited to be a part of One Less Car Day - an opportunity to reduce traffic, cut emissions, and promote healthier, more sustainable ways of getting around. Whether you walk, bike, take public transit, or carpool, every trip without a car makes a difference. Small changes in our daily routines can lead to big benefits for our environment, our health, and our community.
INDIVIDUALS who log their sustainable trips taken on October 21st on Way to Go! will automatically be entered into a raffle to win a prize pack containing:

Hey Missoula! Parks-a-Palooza 2026 is going to bring lots of people to McCormick Park. Skip the hassle of parking and choose a sustainable way to get to Missoula Parks and Recreation's Block Party!
Bus: Route 10 runs right down Cregg Ln or take any route to the downtown Transfer Center, then take a 0.5 mile walk to the park.
Bike / Roll: The River Front trail runs along the park to the north or arrive at the Bitterroot & Milwaukee Trail intersection 0.2 miles from the park.
Carpool: Talk to friends and neighbors to find a group to share a ride. Save money and free up some parking spots for other families that may also need to drive.
No matter what sustainable mode you want to use, we can help you get there. Reach out to us if you want help plan your route or need transportation resources for your trip!

Thank you to everyone who joined for Way to Go! Wednesday
✅ 205 sustainable trips logged
✅ 473 miles traveled
✅ 740 lbs of CO2 diverted (the amount of CO2 that it takes 14 mature trees 1 full year to absorb)
and CONGRATULATIONS to Peggy Schmidt who won our Way to Go! Wednesday raffle and will get a $50 gift card donated by Scheels.
Thank you, again, to Climate Smart Missoula for hosting Climate Solutions Week and encouraging us all to think about how we can live more sustainably every day.

It is officially Climate Solutions Week, Missoula's annual community event organized by Climate Smart Missoula ! This week celebrates local climate action and we are honored to be a part of it again this year.
This Wednesday is WAY TO GO! WEDNESDAY and anyone can participate!
Walk, roll, bike, bus, carpool, or even telework- then log a sustainable trip on Wednesday (September 30th) to be automatically entered into a drawing for a $50 Scheels gift card! (generously donated by our local Missoula Scheels.)

If you ask us, we think this year's Sunday Streets event was a 10/10! But don't take our word for it, lets see the real numbers!
36 volunteers were stationed at every closed street throughout the day to not only manage traffic, but also to count people as they come into the event.
4,128 people were counted coming in to Sunday Streets Missoula this year.
50 businesses/organizations brought activities ranging from co****le & pickleball to art projects and bike maintenance stations.
4 Fitness Classes hosted classes for 54 attendees.
2,387 people walked into the event.
547 people biked into the event.
154 people used other modes to arrive, including by skateboards, one-wheels, wheelchairs & other mobility devices, rollerskates, strollers, and scooters!
And lastly, through survey information we found that a notable number of attendees said their favorite part was meeting a Rat named Cosmo, who arrived by crate from our friends from Animal Wonders Inc.
