Mission accomplished! 🎓👨🏼‍🎓

Two years ago, I made the decision to go back to school and earn my Master’s degree alongside my fried and co-anchor Constance Jones . Yesterday, we both walked across the stage at Florida Internation University, and made it official.

27 years after earning my bachelor’s degree from Florida International University I now have a Master of Science in Global Strategic Communications, along with a Graduate Certificate in Conflict Resolution and Consensus Building . 🐾

This has been one of my goals for a long time, and seeing it become a reality is very special. I’ll admit, balancing school, early morning alarms to anchor the news at NBC 6 , and a busy family life wasn’t easy - but every late night and super early morning was worth it. I couldn’t have done it without the support of my family - my wife Real Life with Brookie Brooke, my sons Lucas, Dominic, and Michael, and my mom Pat Rolando Anderson❤️

I’m also deeply grateful to work for NBCUniversal , a company that believes in lifelong learning and supported me by covering the cost of this degree… What a gift!

Remember, it’s never too late to keep growing!

Celebrating our 5 year anniversary at NBC6! My co-anchor Constance Jones and I both started at NBC 6 on the same day - February 1, 2021 - in the middle of the pandemic.

It’s been an honor anchoring here in my hometown for such a wonderful station and company.

🚨 Celebrating a big career milestone this month - 25 years in TV news!

It all started in January 2001, when I landed my first on-air job as the weekday sports anchor at WOAY in Oak Hill, West Virginia. I eventually moved into the evening news anchor chair, and four years later took the next big leap - heading to Memphis for a nine-year run as morning anchor at WREG.

From there, the journey continued north to Boston, where I spent seven years waking up viewers in New England as a morning anchor at WHDH 7News.

That path ultimately led me back home to Miami, where I’ve had the incredible honor of anchoring the morning news in my hometown - at the same station I grew up watching: WTVJ NBC 6.

I’m deeply grateful to the friends, co-anchors, colleagues, managers, and viewers in West Virginia, the Mid-South, New England and here in South Florida who have trusted and supported me over the past quarter century. AND none of this would have been possible without my unbelievably supportive and loving family, who followed me from city to city on every step of this TV news journey. ❤️

Here’s to 25 years in TV news 🥂 - and to many more still ahead.
