Nature is magical.
The bright, but tiny Magnolia Green Jumping Spider...
We love the bees!
Even the pest control guy has to deal with critters sometimes.
We have shrews living under our side porch. Shrews are hard to control because they don't eat poison like mice. You can't just trap them and if you could, where would you release them?
Fortunately we have a very astute hunter in an abandoned outdoor cat that we care for.
2 dead shrews in less than 24 hours.
"Hawks, owls, snakes, and larger mammals prey upon short-tailed shrews. Mammalian predators may sometimes kill but then do not eat this species because of the “sour” odor produced by skin glands."
The one upside is that shrews eat mice. So, generally if you have a shrew problem, they've more than likely taken care of your mice problem. However, they really do stink and you do not want them in your home.
Below are a couple of links to understanding these interesting creatures.
Besides being just plain, old creepy, they do actually provide a service in the fact that they are insectivores, Oh and that they eat mice..
