A career in construction is about more than building projects. It's about building communities, creating opportunities, and making a lasting difference.

This Careers in Construction Month, we're celebrating the individuals who bring expertise, innovation, and passion to every stage of the process.

To everyone helping plan, design, build, and maintain our communities: thank you for the impact you make every day.

Community leaders, project partners, residents, and project team members recently gathered to celebrate the ribbon-cutting of the Gary P. Grunau RiverWalk Plaza, a new public space honoring Gary's lasting impact on Milwaukee and his vision for creating accessible places that connect people, neighborhoods, and the riverfront.

Designed to enhance connectivity and improve pedestrian access along Milwaukee's waterfront, the plaza strengthens connections throughout the RiverWalk corridor while creating new opportunities for community engagement.

Kapur's Site Design team collaborated with project partners to help bring this vision to life, creating a welcoming destination where residents and visitors can gather, connect, and enjoy Milwaukee's waterfront for years to come.

We most often notice energy when it's unavailable, not when it's working.

Energy Awareness Month is an opportunity to recognize both its importance and the responsibility that comes with planning for what's ahead.

Through thoughtful planning and design, we're committed to helping clients and communities prepare for changing energy demands and evolving infrastructure needs.

Survey says – our Major Projects team knows how to have a good time.

The team's annual gathering combined a potluck and training session at our Burlington office with an afternoon of competition at Brookfield's Game Show Battle Rooms.

The buzzers were active, the competition was friendly, and more than a few name tags paid homage to our founder, Ramesh.

Long before roads and railroads, rivers connected people and places.

Today, they continue to do so by supporting recreation, gathering, exploration, and connection that extend far beyond their banks.

On World Rivers Day, we're recognizing the organizations, volunteers, and professionals working to protect and improve our waterways. Clean water and healthy rivers benefit everyone, and their continued stewardship helps strengthen the communities that depend on them.

Great internships don't just introduce you to an industry. They help you find your place in it.

For Chris Sberna, what started as an internship–through hands-on experience, mentorship, and opportunities to take on increasing responsibility–blossomed into a career spanning more than a decade and counting.

The best way to understand a career at Kapur is through the people who’ve built one.

For 20 years, Brad Thomann has helped project teams turn information into insight.

From transportation and infrastructure projects to utility and municipal initiatives, his GIS expertise has supported collaboration, informed decision-making, and better project outcomes across the region.

Congratulations on this milestone anniversary, Brad. And with the Milwaukee Brewers chasing history this season, it's only fitting that one of Kapur's most dedicated fans is celebrating a milestone year of his own.

As communities continue to evaluate how best to manage flood risk, it's valuable to see large-scale mitigation efforts in the field.

At the ASCE Wisconsin Section - Southeast Branch Past Presidents Tour, Matt Laufer, Neal R. Styka and Nick Bobinski joined MMSD and industry professionals for a behind-the-scenes look at the Hart Park and Western Milwaukee Levee System Phase 2B Project, an effort that includes levee improvements, floodwall construction, storm sewer enhancements, and riverbank restoration.

Site visits like this provide practical insights that can help inform conversations with clients facing similar infrastructure and resilience challenges.
