everyone who donated to finish the mastering of this record in 2024, THANK YOU. it is finally here. we live in a society that eats things up and throws things away very quickly. im protecting my art and soul by releasing it in this way. i hope you all understand and come see me live. i wanna give all the hugs and keep things 💯 in the room. to those of you who have been to a show, you know that’s what i try to do.

we are going back on tour!!!!!
not yet at arenas tho, had to pull an April fools lol. 🤷🏾♀️😅😂 got my only full band show in DC at SONGBYRD coming up! Arenas and stadiums are the vision and the goal. and we are starting somewhere. dates in DC, NYC, Madrid, Sevilla and more will be coming shortly! thank yall for being on this journey with me. can you see the vision? 🖤🥹

“What the hell do I have to do to get there?”
I’ve been asking this question my whole life. Growing up between Georgia and Nigeria, trying to build something real in a world that keeps getting louder and more chaotic.
The “there” keeps changing. That’s the point. There’s no answer except the next step.
Last night I took one. New York City. Nervous as hell but we did it.

I wrote this in a psych ward in 2020. As the life that defined me fell away I felt alone and scared. Yesterday, I played it in New York City at small venue at my first ever headline show in the city. Friends I made from Spain, Howard University were in the audience as well as new dope people in NYC like Tahirah and Umami House.
Thank you to everyone who has shown up for me your words, your generosity, all of it means more than you know.
I’m so glad that version of Ayo in 2020 chose to stay. I wish I could tell her things will get better, you’ll get to see awesome places and speak Spanish. You will strengthen your relationship with your chosen family. Some people things and ways of existing will fall away but you my dear Ayo will be okay. You are not your past trauma and your chosen community will stand with you.
