Building an emergency fund isn’t as daunting as it seems. Most lenders want to see 6 months of reserves “in case of emergency.” As soon as you’re able, start directing money automatically into a savings account you don’t touch. Start small and increase the automatic deposit as your income grows. Do this as soon as you get paid so you get used to living on the rest of your cash flow each pay check.
