It's funny when I see these pictures. I look so comfortable on stages like this, and in reality...

I am.

It wasn't always the case, though. I often share how shy I felt growing up. That characteristic is still true and deep within me.

When I first started getting invited to speak at conferences, I would push myself to say "yes." But, it came along with massive internal friction.

Then, I challenged myself to address the internal narrative that I wasn't built to speak on stage. I tried to go deeper into my feelings and narratives. I became really fascinated with my reactions and emotions.

What I discovered was there was a positive path forward. If I focused less on myself and more on the ideas I got to share, as well as the person who may be listening, my comfort level began to flip.

It wasn't forced.

I am still shy, but with nuance... and with many more skills.

It's these pictures that often bring the journey back into focus. Otherwise, what used to be such a massive hurdle in my life, now simply feels... smooth.

Don't get me wrong, this approach hasn't always worked so well for me. But isn't personal growth such an amazing thing?

In the Icons seat for another interview I can't wait for you to hear. One of the greatest gifts is to be able to have these conversations and share them with you.

I keep saying, it's one thing to reach the heights of success. It's another thing to maintain those heights over time. To do that, you need a whole other set of skills, characteristics, and experiences. To do that, you become an icon. Today's interview was another great example.

This picture was taken about half way through our Work Around the World" trip that spanned 15 countries, 18 months and 200,000km around the globe.

I remember feeling a mixture of unwavering energy and exhaustion on days like this. It's a feeling I'm sure we've all felt when doing something that's a combination of long, hard, and purpose driven. When I see shots like this, I'm reminded of the amazing things that are possible when we dream of... and do... difficult challenges that make us feel fully alive.

Even in our brief meeting, you could feel Jane Goodall's strength of spirit. Such a guiding light for the world. and I will remember that day fondly, but more importantly, we'll try to remember Jane's messages and leadership.

Wow ! I knew I was in for an incredible conversation... but I had no idea how impactful it would feel. Time and space to think is such an underrated gift.

Surreal experience! After learning from (from afar) for decades, I had the opportunity to interview him at his office in NYC for the release of his new book: This Is Strategy.
