We'd like to acknowledge someone who was the first crew member Gabriel ever enlisted (and almost the only crew member he's ever enlisted) who, in 2003, briefly performed the role of boom operator on his 1st short film 'Mass Education' (linked to below). The "boom" consisted of his mom's mop pole with a cardioid microphone wire wrapped around it and the mic dangling from one end. However, footage employing this thrifty sound recording means did not make it into the final cut. Still, Gabriel will always be grateful for this young man's most generous assistance!

We are honored to have Gabriel Rhenals' 16th (and final) short film The Promotion added to Miami Film Lab's "Made in Miami" short film showcase on YouTube! Miami Film Lab, led by the steadfast Jennifer Orta Castellanos, is an organization supporting local filmmakers working in our fair city with pride! That said, Gabriel remains immensely pleased with the work of cast and crew on his 2016 short filmmaking swan song; the climax of which took weeks to complete and succeeded in stumping a professional editor in L.A. as to how it was accomplished. Sorry, trade secret! 😉
Find out more about Miami Film Lab here: www.miamifilmlab.org
(Actually, the labor involved in achieving 'The Promotion's climactic sequence is detailed in Gabriel's book '20 Years a Filmmaker'.)
