Providing fire protection & fire prevention to the residents of the City of Meridian, Mississippi Established in 1882. C. Massey succeeded Zehler in 1903.
As a community plagued by numerous fires, Meridian sought to remedy the situation by organizing volunteer fire brigades. In 1882 the city central district was protected by the Mechanics Steam Fire Company Number One. Other groups soon followed but records are sketchy as to the exact dates. MCC College 4 Kids Jr Firefighter class toured Station #1 today. They learned more about firefighting, physical testing, sprayed water, & seen what it's like in a smoke filled building. We had a great week with the kids!

Deputy Chief Eric Hardy put in the work and hours to receive his Mississippi Fire Chiefs Level 1 designation.
The City of Meridian, Mississippi congratulates Meridian Fire Department Deputy Chief Eric Hardy on receiving his Mississippi Fire Chief Level I designation at the Mississippi Fire Chiefs Conference in Biloxi.

Chief Jeremiah Lovett has completed the 2nd leg of water rescue! Good job!
NFPA 1006: Swiftwater Rescue Technician. Over the past week, these firefighters dove deeper, building on Surface Water rescue. They mastered advanced rescue techniques, navigated challenging water conditions, and demonstrated outstanding teamwork!
