The solar flood lights are installed and working! If weather allows, the glass will be installed and the security doors removed this week. 🤞

The lettering for the Meridian Free Library was going to be hand painted, but I like to make my life hard so I’m trying to do it out of fused glass so that the lettering will glow with a backlight.

Fusing is not my forte, though, so A LOT of experimentation is required. You wouldn’t know it from the molten glow, but the glass in this pic is translucent yellow and opaque black. The final panel will be a black background with yellow lettering. If I’ve done everything right, one of these squares will have a surprise shock of color.

🤞🤞

The framing for the free library has been installed, which means I can finally get started on the glass! Three of the four top panels are already assembled. It’s not terribly difficult lead work, but the bookcase design concept doesn’t require it to be.

Installed!

Ballerina Spotlight is finished! Soon to be hung in the lobby of the Meridian Ballet.

Ballerina Spotlight. Ready for cement and polish.

I'm excited to reveal my design for the Meridian Free Library that will be installed in Ann's Alley in downtown Meridian this summer. Inspired by a bookshop storefront and the stacks of books within, the six stained glass panels will surround a six foot high door revealing a single bookcase. The translucent glass palette of blues and greens will be accented by strips of yellow and orange. Certain to be vibrant during the day, the panels will transform at night when the layered colors within the glass will be revealed by a flood of back light. I'm grateful for this incredible opportunity to join my art and architecture to bring stained glass to the public, and to have my work stand beside the tremendous murals throughout the new pedestrian alley.
