September 11, 2001, changed our country forever. Today, we honor the lives lost, the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice, and the countless people who stepped forward to help in the days that followed.

For those working in crash investigation, public safety, and emergency response, every incident represents real people, real families, and real communities. That perspective is never lost.

We are especially mindful of the many public safety professionals who have spent decades answering difficult calls, documenting what happened, and helping communities move forward.

Today, we pause to remember the people behind the date and the courage that continues to inspire us.

In software sales, a 16-year streak of exceeding quotas is almost unheard of. But if you ask Terry Rash how he did it, he won't talk about his sales pitches. He’ll talk about his team.

Terry joined SmartSafety Software (Trancite) in 2011. Since that day, he has brought in a new statewide or large city customer every single year. He credits this entirely to the developers who build reliable products and the support staff who take care of the users.

His actual sales strategy? Just tell the truth and find out where they really need help.

Most software company employees never get the chance to see their products used in the field. Andy saw SmartSafety’s product used in active combat zones by our military and in the field with law enforcement.

Andy joined SmartSafety Software (Trancite) in 2007. By 2009, he was deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan as a field support representative, training EOD teams to use our post-blast investigation software.

Today, he serves as our Customer Success Manager, bringing that same level of dedication to law enforcement and federal agencies across the country. As we celebrate our 30th anniversary, we are proud to highlight Andy’s 19 years of service, technical expertise, and unwavering respect for our customers.

Some people join a company because of the job posting.

Lisa Phay joined because a colleague who had worked alongside her for 13 years picked up the phone and said, "I think you'd be a perfect fit."

That was 2010. She's still here.

As SmartSafety celebrates 30 years, we're telling the stories of the people who show up every day — the ones whose customers remember their birthdays, who call their team family and actually mean it, and who have been part of our story for more than half of our entire history.

30 years ago, Smart Safety Software started with four people and an idea.

That idea changed how law enforcement officers, FBI agents, and military personnel document and investigate the scenes they respond to every day.

As we celebrate this milestone in 2026, we're sharing the stories of the people who made it happen.

Meet Rich Petri — 16 years with the team. The guy who actually built the cabinets in our first office back in 1993, and came back in 2010 to work there.

The IT specialist who moved our support operation from Excel spreadsheets to remote support tools.

And outside of work? He helps raise thousands of dollars for veterans every year through the Bowlers to Veterans Link!

Yesterday, the SmartSafety team gathered to celebrate someone who has been a big part of our story for the past 18 years — Greg Prosch.

Today marks Greg’s last day with SmartSafety as he officially begins his retirement, and we couldn’t let the moment pass without celebrating the years of hard work, dedication, and memories he has shared with our team.

From the people he has worked alongside to the customers he has supported, Greg has made a lasting impact on SmartSafety and the people around him.

We’re grateful for everything Greg has brought to the team over the years, and even more grateful that we had the chance to celebrate him together yesterday.

Congratulations on your retirement, Greg! We wish you all the best in this next chapter — you’ve certainly earned it! 🎉

After 18 years of writing code, building software, and setting the standard for what it means to be a great teammate, Greg Prosch is officially retiring this Friday, August 28th.

Greg joined SmartSafety (Trancite) in 2008. Over nearly two decades, he helped develop ATTAC Explorer for EOD teams, navigated three company acquisitions, and helped maintain a culture completely free of office politics.

When asked what he learned during his time here, Greg kept it simple: "If a company is loyal to people and genuinely cares for them, that loyalty is often returned tenfold."

As we celebrate our 30th anniversary, we are also celebrating the people who got us here. Greg, thank you for 18 incredible years. Enjoy the backpacking, the board games, and the brewing.

For Brenda Crowe, it means starting her career fresh out of college, joining a team of just six or seven people, learning as technology changed, working on projects across the years, and building relationships with people who became more than coworkers.
