The Mississippi Baseball Congress State Tournament did not end the way we wanted it to, but there are definitely a few things to highlight! In 54 total at bats, the Benchwarmer hitters only managed to strikeout 7 total times while walking 12. At the Plate, Brandon Woodland went 5-5 with an RBI and a stolen base. Woodland reached base in every single plate appearance he had! On the mound,Justin Pritchettt threw a complete game in game one. In the first inning, Pritchett struggled to find control and the opposing team went up 4-0 on 5 walks and hit-batsman, but that was all they could muster as Pritchett settled in and struck out 11 over the next 6 innings while only allowing 1 hit. Brandon Woodland and Justin Pritchett both managed to grab All-State honors!
The Benchwarmers will jump back into league olay and travel to Hattiesburg on August 10th to take on the 1st placePine Belt Piratess!

The Meridian Benchwarmers completed the season sweep the Eagles of Mexico with a 4-0 against them on the season. This puts the defending champs in 2nd place right now in the standings. The race is tight with the top 4 teams being as close as they are, no one can be comfortable right now and that’s a huge testament to the growth of the league! The Benchwarmers will break away with some non-league play this weekend as we travel to Hank Aaron Stadium in Jackson, MS to compete in the Mississippi Baseball Congress State Tournament! Our next league action will be August 10th as we travel to Hattiesburg to take on the 1st place Pine Belt Pirates! This will be a pivotal series that will determine a lot in term of the standings!
Benchwarmers took two wins in a pivotal series against the first place Jackson Yard Goats! The Benchwarmers sit in second place but it’s a TIGHT race! The Benchwarmers are tied in record and run differential with the Pine Belt Pirates, but the Pirates have scored 4 more runs than the Benchwarmers over 8 games, which puts the Pirates in first place! The league is incredibly competitive this year!

The Benchwarmers had to settle for the tie in the first game 5-5….. Then lost the second game 10-7 to a very good Pine Belt Pirates team. Benchwarmers still sit in second place but only thanks to the run differential… time to shift into the next gear and get after it! Benchwarmers will play next weekend at Pelahatchie High School against the The Yard Goats- MHBA League! This will be another very hard fought series!
Come check out your Meridian Benchwarmers in doubleheader action as they take on the Pine Belt Pirates in a high anticipated MHBA matchup, today starting 2:00 PM at Lamar School!

Game two was much closer but after a shakey first inning, Johndavid Tumey settled in and shut them down through 5 innings for a 7-5 win! With these wins, the Benchwarmers sit in first place in the MHBA! Our next series will be against the Pine Belt Pirates at home on June 1st!
