Our Story
Run for the Fallen will take place on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Applegate Park in Merced, CA. This event is a National run and it honors and remembers those service members that have died while serving our Country. We honor our fallen soldiers locally through this free event and the community is welcome to join us in taking part in a 4.25 miles walk/run down the bear creek bike path. This event is not “timed”. It is just a day to come together and remember those in our community that have fallen while serving. We start at M Street and Bear Creek to McKee Rd and over the pass back towards G street then under the pass back to M Street. We offer a Gold Star table display of our loved ones so the community can have a better understanding of the soldiers we honor on this day. We start our day with registration and once you have signed the waiver you will receive a runners/walkers bib. We will have a ceremony with the posting of colors, National Anthem and a speaker to set the course of remembrance.
This event offers the public an opportunity to show gratitude for the service and sacrifice of our Fallen Soldiers from Merced County and to their families. It attracts all ages, families and the community to come out and be a part of this great event. As you walk/run the Bear Creek path you will pass crosses with pictures of our fallen that we honor on this day. These soldiers left behind families, friends and we hope that you will come out to this free event that honors and remembers our fallen. These men/women paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms which is something we can never forget !
