Senior interviews took place today at Golden Valley High School. Our office continues to look for opportunities to connect with the future of our community. Engaging with our youth and maintaining open lines of communication remains a priority for the Merced County District Attorney’s Office. Thank you for the invitation to be a part of this important experience.
Today, Law Enforcement from throughout Merced County joined together to support the Special Olympics through The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR). Together participants ran together to help raise awareness, promote inclusion, and support the Special Olympics athletes in our communities. .

Family Day is a collaboration between the Merced County District Attorney’s Office and Univision. It has grown into an annual event bringing together organizations and resources from throughout the county. The establishment of Family Day was to educate, support and connect with members of our community. Through this event, we continue working towards a safer and stronger future for all. A special thank you to The Barber Club for providing all the many free haircuts.

Last night, our community came together to honor law enforcement from across the county at the Officer of the Year Dinner. We are proud to share that two members of our office, Investigator Ryan Rasmussen, and Supervising Deputy District Attorney Andre Margain were recognized and celebrated during this special event.
A sincere thank you to the Merced Elks, the Merced County Sheriff’s Office, and the many Explorer Posts whose hard work helped make this possible. Events like these highlight the strong partnerships and community support that continue to strengthen public safety throughout Merced County.

The Merced County District Attorney’s Office partnered with the Merced County Clerk-Recorder’s Office, Merced Senior Community Center and the Merced School Employee’s Federal Credit Union, to educate our community about title fraud and the importance of protecting personal property and information.
Together, we can help protect our community through education and awareness.
On May 5, 2026, a Merced County jury found the defendant Alejandro Torres Macias guilty of first-degree attempted murder, residential burglary, and carrying a concealed unregistered firearm.
The Honorable Judge Monika Donabed presided over the jury trial. Supervising Deputy District Attorney Sara Rosenthal and Deputy District Attorney Rodrigo Aguilar prosecuted the case.

District Attorney Nicole Silveira was honored to give the commencement address at Merced College last week. DA Silveira is a proud alumna of Merced College. Her message focused on the importance of resiliency and positivity when faced with challenges in life. She credits her time at Merced College with setting her on the path to where she is today. “In the Central Valley, we are fortunate to have an incredible institution like Merced College in our own backyard.
